cattywampas@midwest.social 1 day agoDepending on your jurisdiction, you may be able to refuse a field sobriety test and opt for a chemical test (breath or blood) instead. That’s the case in my state and many others.
You can also generally refuse a chemical test as well, but doing so will likely get your license suspended.
But check your local laws to be sure.

Refuse field breathalyzers if allowed and have them use the big one at the station. The field ones are super inaccurate.

In Australia, that’s always how it’s done.
Portable breathalyzer doesn’t really mean anything, but if you blow over you’re down to the station to do it in the real machine and if you blow there, it’s off to hospital to get a blood test, the blood test is the evidence used in court.
