Too much work.

PeterPoopshit@lemmy.world 1 year agoIn ublock origin settings, purge and update filters daily. Never watch YouTube videos while logged in to any Google account. Some people have reported you have to remove extensions because they’ve been finding a way to exploit other extensions somehow but I’m able to keep no script enabled no problem.

What I know is that I’ve been all my friends (most of them using ublock origin) complaining about YouTube blocking them and I was in the clear until yesterday. I guess they’re gradually rolling the blocks not for everyone at once.

Is there a list of geographical locations that have it enabled? I’ve tried a few different vpn locations and haven’t found it yet if if they’re using clever deception to divide people and make helping each other out difficult someone needs to document exactly how it’s being done.

This doesn’t seem geo related as most people I was speaking about share the same country and we’re all tech people so more or less similar setups an abilities do get around things.
Btw, just so you know, today after updating ublock and whatnot I get a new situation, the youtube popup doesn’t appear anymore however the ads play with sound only / no video.
Sounds like Google doesn’t it? :P
What I see with this is that Google might eventually lose more with this new policies than just leaving things as they were. Lets be real, if this shit show continues I guess I’ll just move to an alternative frontend such as Piped or Invidious and they their ability to harvest data and forced ads will be considerably restricted.
