Sure Russia just wanted us weakened regardless of professed ideology, but there’s a reason putin was more able than kruschev. Bin Laden played a huge role in this though. And the long standing American fascist movement wasn’t being egged on by the 1950s Soviets.

Nonetheless, Trump is Putler’s lapdog and thus Russia has done what Khrushchev said the Soviet Union would do.
And to pretend like those are two completely distinct political entities would be bad-faith at best.

Allegedly Trump has been cultivated and recruited since 1977.
Back then it was the Soviet Union. Back then Putin was working for KGB as an intelligence officer and did so for 16 years, before resigning when Soviet Union fell, to have a political career.
