What annoys me is how many people there are on the Internet who think a piece of evidence or two makes them genius detectives who know EXACTLY what happened and why.

Well maybe not quite that bad, but there was definitely internment camps in both the UK and the US. In the US they locked up any citizens of Japanese heritage.
