tyrant@lemmy.world 20 hours agoI’m not an expert on keepass. Bit warden is open source and free though (unless you want to get 2fa). I’m sure there are comparisons between the two out in the wild Internet

KeePass is too. But it has no cloud support. However, I actually prefer this, just syncing may password database between my devices using syncthing. I read that bitwarden seems to have a bit more modern UI and is easier to use, but as I am used to KeePass I am happy with it. I guess both solutions are fine!

Yeah, both are fine. I switched away from KeePass because I was using Dropbox to take care of device sync, and it just didn’t feel right. Switching to Bitwarden was awesome for me because I self host it (Vaultwarden). It’s only accessible inside my home network, so mobile devices use a cached copy. If I need to add a new entry while away from home I can connect via VPN.
