In 2023, the on-time arrival percentage of ICE trains was 60something%. Thatâs not exactly a number that screams reliability. I donât remember the exact number DB had to pay out for delay compensations that year but it was an embarrassing sum. Just today 2 separate people in my group chat were saying unsavory things about DBâs mother because of 30+ minute delays on two separate ICE trains.
German trains being on time is a myth.

While punctuality is not the German trains strong point, this is mostly due to congestion and construction sites. The trains as such are remarkably reliable.
