Asafum@feddit.nl 11 hours agoIt’s almost as if that’s what the people want, but the gripe with the DNC is that they keep trying to push for neoliberals. That’s why there is “division” in the party. They’re trying to keep the dominance of “moderates” even though that’s not what the people seem to want.
And in the face of all that, Democrats as a whole are constantly referred to as “Marxist leftists” by conservative media… It’s laughable.

It wouldn't surprise me at all that this is what New Yorkers want, but progressivism still makes up for the minority of the electorate. Leftism isn't that popular.
I suspect here that Mamdani won mostly because he's up against two former mayors who refused to do anything about the problems they're now promising to fix, and people are ready for a change, not that they're socialists. I know it's New York, but I'd like to give them a bit of charitability.
