Yeah itâs all very weird. I would love to know what really happened

Trial by Media is definitely a thing, and the current mushroom case is imo a prime example, and there are some people on this platform who have already made up their minds as to Erinâs guilt even though the trial isnât over yet.
I am also old enough to remember the Azaria Chamberlain hooha too. Funny how this sort of thing happens to plain women who donât mirror the prevailing social norms for looks and/or behaviour. And has for centuries - the Spanish Inquisition, the witchhunt crazes of 16th & 17th century Europe and probably before then too.
Not news, whatâs news is that this article was written so soon after the successful accusation and âpunishmentâ. Usually thereâs a time lag of several decades eg Lindy Chamberlain. Or centuries - eg witchhunts.

100% agreed
While I do comment about Erin, I have not really made up my mind and my opinion will not change the outcome - there is a jury whose job is to do that (and the judge).
Lindy Chamberlain was such a phenomenon - so many TV shows and media made fun of her (thinking of that Seinfeld episode where elain says to the Aussie couple âa dingo ate your babyâ), when it turns out that she didnât do it and the First Nations people were right - a dingo did take her baby. An example of society not listening to plain women (read: not a hot, skinny chick) and First Nations people. And what happened? They fucking found the babyâs clothing in a dingo den - funny that.
Regarding this nurse, it was definitely trial by media, everyone already was talking about it like she did it and we were just waiting for the justice system to catch up. It sucks babies died, but it sounds like the hospital (specifically those wards) weâre understaffed, so she picked up extra shifts. Statistically, if she picked up extra shifts and did overtime, sheâs going to be present for more deaths than other nurses who didnât. Her diary entries shouldnât be admissable, they were venting and trying to process the grief. Idk. Itâs fucked up all ways to Sunday.

I agree with you.
Though Iâm a different demographic, Iâve experienced first hand how people can act when youâre the wrong type of person to be innocent.

treating plain women poorly or as invisible is an unspoken thing done by many humans
often people who do it wonât even acknowledge thatâs how they think and behave

Iâve been both dolled up and plain and there is a tangible difference to how you get treated.
I choose to look plain these days just so I can get a clearer read on character.

Word. I wear no makeup, I donât have high-end fashion clothing, and I donât really do much to my hair or style it. The difference between me now and me 10yrs ago (when I did do those things) is funny and sad.
Iâd rather do without all the extra stuff and, like you said, get a better read on character, than to doll myself up and question whether everyone is genuine or not.
