I was a child in the 90’s but I specifically remember me and my friends being grossed out by them then.
None of my friends as I grew up found them to be cool either since, again, they smelled like shit and were pretty gross.

I was a child in the 90’s, I found it cool. Hell, I still find the “last bent cigarette before going out in a blaze of glory” or the “smoking melodramatically in the rain” scenes in old movies to be cool tbh. Marketing, like nicotine, is a hell of a drug.

You’re taking a very weird offense to me saying it wasn’t cool. As I said, growing up amongst my friends, it was never seen as cool and I never considered it as such. Of course, it might help that we all had family members who were affected or ravaged by their smoking.
I don’t think nor was it implied anywhere that I’m morally superior to someone who smokes or does drugs. Everyone on this planet uses drugs in some capacity.
No offense was taken, I though adding a little Futurama quote would show that it was all supposed to be in good humor. Sorry if I came across as defensive, offended, or otherwise offended you with my response. It was not my intent.
Was just adding my 2 cents as a 90’s kid that the “smoking is cool” propaganda and marketing still existed, and was still effective.

I am so so sorry, but over 30 years already includes half the nineties.
That said, smoking still looks cool, even now, it just smells so bad it’s not worth it
