French don’t know about French toasts.
We know it, it’s called pain perdu.
You call it ‘lost bread’?
Yup, it’s a way to use old bread instead of letting it go to waste.
It use to be a way to not waste stale bread. Nowdays, it’s mostly a fancy dish using freshly made brioche.
