  There isnt 3-phase mains going into the device, but i assume is uses a 3-phase brushless motor with a driver circuit for speed control

  I wiuldnt say common, but I’ve seen a couple 3 phase washing machines in my area. Midwest US

  If it says inverter on it, it’s using a 3 phase brushless motor. It might be 3ph even if it doesn’t say it.
