JustARaccoon@lemmy.world 11 months agoI didn’t say ads can’t contain malware, but it’s a bit of a “(some) internet malware is ads, but not all ads are malware” scenario, it’s very dependent on who they get the ads from and how tight those ads get reviewed. Broad statements like that are just ignorant, and I say that as someone who uses an adblock on all of their devices.

That’s backwards. (Most) ads are malware, but not all malware is ads.
The majority of ads are, at best, dangerous and, at worst, actively malicious. The ad networks don’t care to review them because they make money either way.

Websites that serve ads don’t review them ESPECIALLY if those ads are coming from third parties.
