I have this four hour literacy and numeracy test in about an hour, and I am fearing the literacy part. I often skip words when I read or what I’m reading doesn’t actually go in because my brain refuses to absorb the information. Unless the information is exciting in some way.

Try reading the question backwards as well as forwards if the questions aren’t too long. That way you’re focusing on the words on the page instead of getting caught up in the flow of reading

Ooh that’s an interesting idea! I just did the literacy test and it was a lot easier than I thought it would be :)

It’s a trick I learnt from copyediting. It helps with typos spellcheck doesn’t pick up. For exam questions it would be good to make sure you don’t miss important modifiers like ‘not’ in a question

So the question, “What is that?”, I’d read as, “That is what”?
