Comment on Microsoft refund problem

A co-worker of mine misclicked once while ordering Microsoft software licenses through their volume licensing center, and booked $60k worth of licenses to the wrong tenant. He was on the phone with various Microsoft representatives for days, until he eventually got hold of the lead dev for the licensing center, who told him there’s nothing we can do about it, the money is just gone.
This anecdote doesn’t help you in any way of course, but maybe it illustrates how insignificant your own issue is to Microsoft.

Definitely, your colleague had it worse than me :D. I know it’s irrelevant to them, and it is to me too, but it’s just an abuse of power because I believe I’m not the only one, and who knows how much money they make through fraud.

They definitely make more than a negligible share of their income through mistakes (people who accidentally checked a box that cost money).
And some of their admin interfaces and design choices are definitely aimed at encouraging such mistakes.
