I mentioned my spec above, and I added a 2tb m2, noctua upgrade and a couple expansion modules for the front. I preordered it around 6 months back so before any of the craziness. It was around $3600 CAD

The efficiency improvements in some open models are becoming crazy, like hundreds of times from a year ago. I have a setup such as yours on my framework which can handle a 120b param model fully loaded. It’s capable of the RAG setup you are already envisioning.

It could even be related to breathing. In karate exhalation breath work is important as part of a strike or kick for a number of reasons including maximizing force.

I’ve had a few headsets over the years and there is just no killer app that makes using it better outside of a few niche things like the exercise games.
Yeah google earth is neat, but worth firing up the headset and going through all that when I can just use a mouse? Forget it, I just won’t bother.
I think you are right and I don’t see how it breaks out of this niche. Maybe when they can stimulate touch.
I also just get VR fatigue rather quickly, and it takes time to build a tolerance.
I’ve wanted this ever since I read snow crash as a kid, and I got into the 3d stuff back in the day of VHTML.

Least implausible is probably the collapse of civilization, but I could also see a Carrington event do it as well.
Interestingly the question is more or less equivilent to the same things that would have people need to talk to each other again via voice.
So I figure a prerequisite is it requires that the internet no longer be available, or that large enough groups of people can’t access it

I love these Lil dudes. I have some in the basement and I feel bad to see them scurry around to find darkness whenever a light is turned on. They are my spirit animal.

Yeah it made me a lot happier. Wouldn’t live in a city or suburbs again even if the rent was free. I started out fully nomadic in 2017 but now I stay put most of the time. I’m currently scouting for land to build a cabin to stay in year round.
I’m an older adult on the spectrum and being out in nature, away from all the people, and a simpler life has dramatically bettered my mental health so I’m looking to make it permenant. I don’t like the unanchored feeling and routine distruption that comes from the nomadic process.

Hey I visited America on vacation and went to Detroit as part of it. Went to a nice little gritty strip joint off 8 mile. I got my picture taken with a porn actress. We even managed to leave with our tires still on and no bullets to extract. 10/10.
Vacations should be about the experience.
