That’s true, it was cannon technology that allowed steam engines to be created

Aluminum would be nearly impossible to obtain, it’s actually my preferred grab in a hypothetical “You’re going back in time and can take one thing”

Because they’re having less babies than is needed to maintain or grow their population
2.1 babies/woman is about what’s needed to maintain a population, China was at 1.09 last year

Agreed about the survivors part, it seems like a major oversight that I hope they can explain in a satisfying way.
As for the Gorn on the ship, I presumed it was just a crewman trying to gather intelligence on the Federation by picking through the remains of the saucer section

Sort of feels like the attack on the colony was unplanned, and that the later Gorn ship was playing damage control while trying to figure out what happened.
That’s consistent with what they theorized regarding the solar flares causing the first ship to attack the colony.
That’s the best explanation I’ve heard, and I’m going to stick with it until a better one comes along

If you’re going to be visiting a potential birthplace for Archer, I’d have to say he grew up in Watkins Glen, if only because the state park there is beautiful

Agreed, the entire saucer section was on the Federation side of the border, they could have openly had rescue teams checking for survivors
