As we discussed before, linking both accounts in the bio achieve the goal

When I open an alt, admins usually check out with me to see if it’s actually me.
Usernames are not “copyrighted” across instances for very good reasons
Try to open a “dessalines” or “jordanlund” account elsewhere, you’re probably going to get questioned about it.
other than what you voluntarily provide on your own profile sig.
Yes, that’s a way to link your accounts.

The settings export are for your accounts, no the community.
You can migrate the community using Piefed feature, as commented there: lemmy.world/post/30770310/17453661

It would if all the users were on Piefed instances. I instantly got 100 subscribers on that community as they were Piefed users.

transfering the communities.

If you keep your username and avatar, people will still recognize you, I do that regularly every few months, so on the “persona” aspect people should be fine.
About the “archive” aspect, the content is still there, not sure how often people have to go back to their past posting history. Saving past important comments and posts from an old account is still an option.

A question: is if recommended to unsub from local communities before lemm.ee sundowns?
No, as those communities will announce where they go, and organize. Examples on !movies@lemm.ee and !Television@lemm.ee

If you used postimages.org or any other third party hoster, you should be fine

Hey @TheImpressiveX@lemm.ee, do you have Matrix? If yes, feel free to DM me at @blaze:tchncs.de, it will be easier to discuss where to migrate the community

They did not, you’re looking at linked instances

By the way, @Die4Ever@retrolemmy.com , I know you are trying to help, but maybe let the mods handle the announcements for other communities?
It will be easier for us to manage the migration to a new community rather than point people to LW and .ml communities.

Don’t worry, we’ll have those in the new community as well

Nothing is settled yet, this is just a precautionary measure.

But since then, we reached 47k monthly active users, mostly thanks to the federated model.
Beehaw has 415 monthly active users, and is highly moderated, so if people are looking for a smaller experience, I would recommend that instead

Hello Scrubbles,
Don’t worry, if there’s someone that’s ready for an instance shutting down, that’s me and my alts x)
Thanks, I might! Feel free to also comment on !fedigrow@lemm.ee, we still have the regular weekly threads
