that’s not true. there are things that are not definitions. like my bed for instance, there are aspects that are arbitrary (my personal preferences, design choices, etc) and aspects that are not arbitrary (its physical form that exists beyond definition)
- Comment on Half as Hot 3 weeks ago:
maybe you’re the one who doesn’t understand the ramifications of its meaning
- Comment on Half as Hot 3 weeks ago:
literally every definition ever is arbitrary
- Comment on Half as Hot 4 weeks ago:
just because it has a reason doesn’t make it not arbitrary. you can ultimately come up with a reason for all arbitrary decisions
- Comment on Half as Hot 4 weeks ago:
absolute scales are still arbitrary. you would probably want to use a scale that measures “perceived heat” which is different than average kinetic energy
- Comment on Half as Hot 4 weeks ago:
arguably setting zero to absolute zero is just as arbitrary

all opinions are ultimately inconsistent with reality in some way, indicating that they all do really originate from somewhere within ourselves

latinx was coined by a latinx activist
- Comment on Anon's gf is unfulfilled 2 months ago:
well the term was created by a latinx individual so that’s a bit of a moot point. I do agree that latine makes more sense but what do I know
- Comment on Anon's gf is unfulfilled 2 months ago:
yes but obviously some people face real violence every day
- Comment on Anon's gf is unfulfilled 2 months ago:
displease the majority to give visibility to the minority. no one is hurt when latinx is used, but the people latinx additionally represents face violence every day
- Comment on Anon's gf is unfulfilled 2 months ago:
it’s about the minority that don’t feel as though latino/a doesn’t describe them. it’s not for the majority favored by the status quo

matlab likes to pick the smallest available spot in memory to store a list, so for loops that increase the size of a matrix it’s recommended to preallocate the space using a matrix full of zeros!
