Beyond
oh yes!
I’m not sure what to think there.

Contrary to popular belief, the Sonic and Knuckles cart only worked with other Sonic games.
If you try to attach your Star Trek: The Next Generation: Echoes from the Past cartridge you will just get an error message.
I’m sure Paramount has already tried this several times to no avail.
- Comment on I used an original iPod in 2024, and it was pretty fun 6 months ago:
You don’t need iTunes to manage an iPod. There are tons of alternative apps, as well as plugins for music players like foobar2000 and Winamp.
iPods are still great. You can even replace their hard drives with modern flash storage and they work. It’s actually really impressive, i built a 256GB iPod Mini and iTunes has no problem with it.

it’s also not a good way of actually figuring out who is critical.
you can have people who keep the lights on and if they do their job right few even notice they exist.
- Comment on Net neutrality is back as FCC votes to regulate internet providers 6 months ago:
A website isn’t a common carrier, you cannot argue that a website isn’t allowed to control who they serve their content to. Cloudflare is a tool websites use to exercise that right.

Given that their FBI’s targets probably don’t type in Chinese or other logographic languages very often i doubt they care.
- Comment on Fallout Show, so bad that no one will remember it in 3 months 7 months ago:
New Vegas is the best of the modern Fallout games, but toxic elements in its fan base are making me enjoy the game less and less each year. We should stop giving them the time of day.
- Comment on Spotify plans to raise prices this year and introduce new plans - GSMArena.com news 7 months ago:
that is why spotify is a scam. it may be a good deal for you, the consumer, but it has made it even harder for artists to make money off their work.

you’re paying for the branded bottle, not the liquid inside.
the irony is that i wanted some of those wines, knowing they weren’t good, but i couldn’t order them because i live in one of the shitty states.

- Comment on What are some games you find yourself frequently coming back to? 7 months ago:
My problem is that i can’t seem to get a hang of the combat, at all. Taking down even some medium sized dinobots feels like a slog, 20 minutes of me breaking line of sight, taking a pot shot at its weak point, and somehow missing, rinse and repeat. I feel the game either didn’t do a good job teaching me how to deal with them, or I’m just playing it wrong and don’t know better.
I’ve started the game three times and each time I get about 6 hours in before I get bored.

mini-usb cables are robust, but the sockets they plug into were pretty fragile, i’ve had multiple break.
- Comment on A 2 way micro USB connector. Never thought they existed 10 months ago:
the socket. sadly this is a design flaw with every usb connector, even type-c.
amusingly, Apple’s lightning is the only connector i’ve seen that seems truly designed for the cable to break before the socket

- Comment on You probably don't need a VPN 10 months ago:
i don’t think many ISPs even offer encrypted DNS, i’m talking about using a third party dns. you can set up a standard dns endpoint that uses DoH upstream to the server of your choice. cloudflared makes this really easy if you are happy using their dns, and you can even have it sit upstream of something like pihole, giving your whole home network dns tracking protection and as blocking without the overhead of a VPN.
- Comment on You probably don't need a VPN 10 months ago:
Do you have to pay for a service? Probably not if you’re technical enough; a VM in a data center is probably sufficient.
Where are you getting free VM hosting?
- Comment on On the end of Discovery 11 months ago:
I love it when they try to take risks and do something new or different with the IP. Even if it fails, the end result is still usually more interesting than a safe retread would have been. Disco isn’t my favorite Star Trek, but it is one of the most interesting entries in the franchise, and has done a lot to expand and solidify the 23rd century canon.
People forget how controversial the Battlestar Galactica reboot was. Same goes for Daniel Craig’s James Bond. Simply being different from the source material is not enough to make it bad.
