I still can’t believe how on point the variant puzzles are. Each one removes the exact way the last one was solved, even when I thought I was being so clever with how I solved it. It’s like ‘congrats on solving it, I knew you’d solve it that way, so here’s a more difficult way’ like three times in a row

I’m choosing to imagine he’s running a very very very slightly larger circle each time, getting closer and closer to his neighbours as he goes - instead of it being the precision of the sat nav (and the larger circles only being noticed over a matter of weeks)

There’s nothing ‘mildly infuriating’ about this – this is full blown infuriating. Enraging.
Hope you find something better soon

- Comment on How does a SO feel different from a very good friend? 11 months ago:
Definitely varies for people, and there is actually a book coming out soon called “The Other Significant Others: Reimagining Life with Friendship at the Center” that you might find an interesting read.
For me, my fiancée is my best friend. Sure we’ve both had best friends before, but the connection was instant and way more intense than with anyone else for both of us. What makes our relationship different than a friendship is that we want to build a life together, we’re a team, we’re each eachother’s top priority, and, yes like most relationships there’s a physical aspect to it, amongst other things. The phrase ‘she’s my person’ really encompasses what it feels like, personally anyway.
If somethings right, you’ll feel it. When you find someone that sparks a connection beyond just friends, you’ll know. And if that never happens, don’t be too hard on yourself and start thinking there’s something wrong with you. Being neurodivergent and on the asexual / aromantic spectrum can make these questions harder, if they apply. Just do what feels right and don’t over think it too much. Easier said than done, I know

Love that people are still making huge mods for Portal 2. Can’t wait to try this out

The script is ~55k characters long, depending on the source. This transcript includes who is saying the line, as well as descriptive elements of the story, so the actual ‘words only’ version will be a bit shorter. From what I’ve seen, though, most of transcripts have these non verbal inclusions, so the person who added it to the special instructions likely copied those over as well.
I can’t speak to the other points, but allowing 55k characters is definitely wild.
- Comment on How do I stop hating children? 11 months ago:
I struggle with a lot of sounds, having a sensory processing disorder, the list of which is far too long to write out here. So I totally understand the frustration and how rage inducing it is, you are definitely not alone. Especially when people don’t understand it’s not a patience issue, it’s a ‘my brain isn’t wired the same way as yours and it genuinely cannot be fixed’ issue.
Other people have mentioned therapy, which is definitely a good idea. They can help you find ways to channel the energy into something else, or help you find the root cause (if it’s a children-specific thing, and not just a general sensory issue), or teach you good cognitive behavioral therapy practices.
In the interim, since finding a good therapist for you can take a lot of time, I would definitely recommend some form of earplugs. Mine have saved me and my sanity so so so many times. If I can recommend a particular pair, I would suggest the Loop Switch, since they let you adjust the sound reduction levels on the fly - but any brand / even the foam tip ones (as long as they fit you properly!) can help immeasurably. For me, just knowing I have earplugs with me helps dealing with these sounds, even if I don’t wind up using them, just knowing the option is there. Some form of stress ball or those grip / forearm strengtheners might also be of use for you? It can be a good distraction, as well as allowing yourself to let off some of the steam in a relatively healthy and inconspicuous manner.
And kudos for knowing this is a problem for you, and looking for help on how to improve it. I hope you’re able to make progress you want, one way or another. Good luck, OP - we’re rooting for you

If you are struggling to meet your biological and safetey needs, you bet your scrotal meat money can buy happiness
genuinely aren’t made happier by addition of cash…they’re operating at the interpersonal and self-actualization levels
There’s a 2010 study that supports both these statements, where an increase in income equals an increase in happiness - up to a point (plateauing around 60-90k, in 2010 money). However, a more recent study from 2022, shows that an increase in money up to a larger point (500k) increases happiness. I’m unsure why the data have a drastically different number this time, inflation doesn’t account for that dramatic of an increase. Though, a percent of people in the newer study (15%) do line up with the original study with happiness plateauing around the 100k mark, which matches up given inflation. Interesting one of the authors is the same for both studies.

I definitely hope the trend continues, though not necessarily replacing consoles as an entity. I’ve an Aya Neo 2021 (first gen) and it’s been amazing. I have a hard time staying in one place and actually committing to sitting down at a console / desktop to play games, I don’t like gaming on laptops too much, and the Switch has a limited library; so a handheld PC specifically made for gaming has been fantastic. It’s so nice to just pick up and be able to play whereever, and I’m very glad to see that it seems like handheld PCs are here to stay

Borderlands 2, there’s just something about it. I’ve put so many hours into it on various platforms, and it never gets old. The story is so good and I just love the play style. It’s super easy to restart the campaign or there’s always some farming / grinding to do, depending on the vibe for the day

Yes on the Libraries! Libraries are often incredibly cheap for printing, and most of them have an online uploading tool so you can print things from your home computer or phone without any hassle. Plus, at least at the library I work at, we have incredibly high quality printers and your docs / photos will come out a lot better than how they would if you were at home, as well as a scanner that can give you a 600dpi TIFF file
Just please try not to hand us a twenty for something that costs 1/100th of that - we often don’t have enough small bills to make change. (Or do and put it on your account for later, if that’s an offered option, or better yet donate the remainder 😉)

I love seeing more competition in the PC handheld market
Yeah it’s pretty great to see, especially since in the beginning there were a lot of people saying handheld gaming PCs are very niche and the development won’t last long

I have an Aya Neo, and honestly running Windows on it (after doing a reinstall without all the bloat), is pretty enjoyable. I get to run all my PC games no problem, emulators, and use it as a portable computer for other things (managing flipper zero files, that sort of thing)
Steam Deck os is pretty nifty too though, that’s for sure.
