- Comment on What are some FOSS programs that are objectively better than their proprietary counterparts? 5 days ago:
Its not FOSS but if you need a work alterative to GIMP I use Photopea a lot. Works as a PWA too.
I’ve been using design software for over 25 years; Photoshop has been there for the majority but I’ve often tried coming back to GIMP here and there, but it’s never grabbed me in a useable way.
- Comment on What TV show were you highly excited for, but ended up quickly disappointing you? 1 week ago:
It’s funny, I did decide to read the books before watching the show. I’m about 6 episodes in and think it’s very good. I think they actually improved the books in many ways.
I don’t know if people just have a nostalgia for something they haven’t read in a long time (sorry not having a go at you!) or they genuinely like some really not-great aspects of the books that are a victim of their time.
The fact they changed a bunch of characters genders actually works - too many crusty old white (assuming) dudes that doesn’t work nowadays. Making Gaal a more rounded character to tell a story they apparently write in the book makes a lot more sense.

Is he holding one of these?

Too many round corners and watching it this morning they’ve made a mess of their on screen graphics. There’s a weird space in the bottom right and crappy orange gradients make it look like commercial tv… Was that the point?

“But I think the pressure at the moment needs to be for like-minded countries that share our values, to stand shoulder-to-shoulder
Definitely. The pressure should be on Australia to join Ireland, Norway and Spain.

All of these AI prompts sound like begging. We’re begging computers to do things for us now.

I did a quick search - looks like it is based on the number of first pref votes: www.aec.gov.au/…/index.htm

I think I heard something about the smaller parties getting more funding in the next election if they get more votes. The big parties will always get votes, it’s nice to help the smaller parties out if you believe in them.

I haven’t owned a PlayStation since the first one, there’s a dedicated Twitter button on the controller?

I stopped part way through season 3 as it was getting pretty repetitive, shame they couldn’t make it work.

I just watched that one, but haven’t watched the LD show. I enjoyed the episode knowing what it was (especially when they cartooned the SNW crew) but I’m not sure if I’d enjoy the show, they were quite annoying and didn’t respect the chain of command enough 😂

We’ve just finished season 1, very good so far. It’s also enjoyable drawing parallels to Succession 😆
