One of the things I’ve read about why things are the way they are is a comparison to probabilities, the thought is that similar to how there is one and only one way to roll a bunch of dice and have them come up all ones, there would be one and only one way for there to be “nothing” in the universe given the existence of any energy because of how many different ways energy can exist it’s much more probable that you get a jumbled pile of all kinds of different things.
Now as for the question of “where did all this energy come from” you have to realize that even the vacuum of space contains energy of some level and the 'visible universe ’ that is all of the matter that interacts with electromagnetic fields only accounts for a tiny fraction of the total energy we can detect so it’s likely that the energies that make up our matter and universe came from “somewhere else” … but then where did that energy come from and then it’s turtles all the way down - Comment on The joy of quitting a shit job with an asshole boss 5 weeks ago:

I believe that vacuums also generate a ton of static charge as the air flows over the plastic hoses and such. They make special vacuums for electronic that are static free but expensive.

The dude who can freeze time (framed as him imagining) isn’t the one adding dildo shaped shampoo to women’s grocery carts to see if they’ll buy it when the get to the checkout. He just uses his time powers to, ahem, artistically admire women’s naked bodies when they’re grocery shopping and unaware they’re being the subject of his drawing - Comment on Two big Final Fantasy remakes are reportedly still in ‘active development’ 4 months ago:

Is it worth giving up your data for a bigger screen?

Modern “Televisions” are pretty much smartphones with a big ass screen connected to them, and as such often requires an internet connection and some form of a login to use, even if you’re hardwired directly to it.Modern tvs aren’t just a screen that displays the data you send it, they’re a standalone ad serving machine

It was widely compared to the matrix which I did, but watching later it is a great movie in its own right
- Comment on Anon recommends a cast iron pan 9 months ago:
We found a used older one, used it just about daily for a couple years before my dumb ass left it in an oven that was too hot (some old ones only got to like 400F apparently) and caused a bunch of cracks. We messaged le cruset and after sending them some pictures and a sob story they sent us a brand new one.
Doesn’t need to be a new one or le cruset, enameled cast iron is just nice generally in my experience

Enameled cast iron is definitely a thing, our le cruset Dutch oven is a work horse
- Comment on What games popularized certain mechanics? 10 months ago:
The first Dark Souls was 2011. Diablo was released in 1997. World of Warcraft was 2004 and while you didn’t quite drop all your stuff and money you die you did have to run back to your corpse to keep from having all your stuff degrade and cost a bunch of money. The first Sonic was 1991 and getting hit makes you drop all your “money” and have to pick it back up.
- Comment on What games popularized certain mechanics? 10 months ago:
The first ones I can think of is legend of Zelda and final fantasy, but I think there was also Adventure for the Atari before those even. The first Assassin’s Creed was 2007, Adventure was 1980

IThere’s a pretty simple way to test the alarm, make it go off when your awake and waiting for it. Say the current time is 11:57, set the alarm for 12:00 and sit and wait for it to go off.

It’s really just poker solitaire with a bunch of math added to flavorful bonus cards, if you’re not really into poker, solitaire, or math it isn’t going to be the right game for you.
I have a buddy that hates RNG, mostly plays shooter games, he hates poker in all its forms because of the randomness but I feel like learning to deal with probably and chance are really good lessons that apply to broader life.
- Comment on How did gravity worked on the Death Star? 11 months ago:
One of my favorite science facts: Because of how the strength of gravity diminishes as you get further away and stronger as you get closer, when you approach to within arms length of another person (approx 1m) the gravitational attraction between the two masses of your bodies can exceed the gravitational attraction between your body and the sun at any given time.
