Absolutely. I agree. I’m not against expressing pain and personal struggle in art. Some of my favorite art pieces are exacly that and it feels extremely personal. It’s exacly as you say: the problem of loss is that it feels weird in this format and with the funny webcomic context.
I’m guessing part of fhe meme being successfull is because a lot of people felt that way. It’s definitely art, but art comes with the ivitation of being up for interpretation and criticism.
In a way the meme turned that four panel comic into a whole seperate artpiece, one that is born from and does express the awkwardness in a way.

I do feel bad for him, and especially the ex-girlfriend having the miscarriage in college (it was years back before he drew the comic and not his wife according to wikipedia with his own blog post as source).
He also was the one putting this trauma event of his life in the public as part of a gaming/gag webcomic.

What I still don’t understand is where time comes into play. Is it defined somewhere? Wouldn’t everything still happen instantly even if there are infinite steps inbetween?

It was to study its effectiveness and sustainability iirc, not meant to be done for actual production at that point.
I guess one major downside is that if a component breaks, be it something simple like a capacitor, there is no easy way to replace it, so it has to be designed with that in mind.

I agree with you and like to emphasis on one point you already mentioned. The demcrats encompass everything to the left of the GOP. Because the GOP is far right, everything to the left of it includes center right, conservatives, centrist and liberal opinions, as well as a lot of the left wing.
In my opinion this is one of the major reasons why the democrats seem so undecicive, because there already are so many different world views of people that are forced to be in the same party, because effectively, there only are two of them, and the alternative is straight up fascism.
If the democrats ever regain power, changing the voting system to allow for a 3rd or 4th party to actually emerge would be a saving grace, but unfortunately, the above mentioned composition will likely prevent them from it, even when in power. And on top of that they will have their hands full with the debt crisis.

It always was in a way. In the early days only people with interest in the technology went online. Then, in the forum era, people found their communities and stuck with it. Only because of the rise of social media were suddenly all groups on the same platform, which then naturally split apart again into groups, subs, etc

Most of my old playlists are missing a ton of videos that have been taken down over the years. Worst of all you can’t even look up what those videos were called to search them somewhere else.

Turns out that normal cars have paint jobs and a clear coat finish for a reason. For raw stainless steel, everything from road salt to bird poop is very bad if not cleaned off quickly.

I kinda had a similar experience with the walking dead. While my enjoyment of the show plummeted to a point where I didn’t even bother to watch the last like 3 or 4 seasons, I still regularly checked community spaces to see everyone dunk on it.

I always get annoyed when reading ads like “it’s free with xy subscription”.

The books have a few very interesting ideas, like the leader vampire society that feasts on whole tourist groups. Or a vampire during the civil war. Unfortunately, it’s mostly fluff and never expanded upon.
