- Comment on What is a good eli5 analogy for GenAI not "knowing" what they say? 1 month ago:
Exactly. The brain is analogous to the room, not the person in it. Try removing a chunk of a brain and see how well it can “understand”
- Comment on if the bird flu started spreading between humans, how long would you need to stay quarantined before it was safe to come out?? 2 months ago:
You’re ranting for no reason. “Return to workplace” obviously doesn’t refer to workers who had to be on site the whole time
- Comment on Phil Spencer wants Epic Games Store and others on Xbox consoles 2 months ago:
A chunk of those sales go to the platform, regardless of where they’re bought
- Comment on The Talos Principle: The Most Underrated Video Game of the Last Decade 3 months ago:
Definitely try 2 if you haven’t already. They’ve completely eliminated dexterity and timing puzzles
- Comment on The Talos Principle: The Most Underrated Video Game of the Last Decade 3 months ago:
Yeah I agree. Nothing wrong with how this was worded. “Of all the games which were released in the last 10 years, this one is the most overrated”
- Comment on Amsterdam testing system that can remotely slow e-bikes down 3 months ago:
Should’ve just left it in the road and walked off lol. It’s the company’s problem now… Play stupid games, win stupid prizes
- Comment on Why doesn't valve release testing room packs? 5 months ago:
Valve openly suffers from the “zero billions” problem, which effectively blocks small, safe projects from getting off the ground.
They have enough cash to focus all their effort on moonshots, and in the long run it will serve them well.
- Comment on Why does everyone swear so much in The Witcher 3? 5 months ago:
Almost every comment so far is just responding to the headline… It’s actually a really well researched article - worth a read
- Comment on Commissioning a Board Game Table, What Should I Look Out For? 5 months ago:
So you’re saying it’s a stupid question to ask in “no stupid questions”?
- Comment on The Blue Marble : a one marble path chain reaction 5 months ago:
I’ve watched a fair few of these videos over the years. This one blows all the others out of the water, because it’s the same fucking marble the whole way… Absolutely spectacular
- Comment on [Music Notation] What does "D M F# m/5+" mean? 6 months ago:
Everyone else in the thread already worked their way through explaining how F#m/5+ gets to D F# A.
I’m here to tell you that there is absolutely no musical context, practical or theoretical, where it is the correct chord symbol to write. Period.
Zero. Zilch. Nada.

Nothing will beat the vid where it lands on the wheelchair lady’s nose
- Comment on W4 Games nets $15 million to help Godot scale exponentially 6 months ago:
For a lightweight organisation which has foregone layers of management waste out of financial necessity, it funds an awful lot of development.
- Comment on What the actual f*** is this Rockstar? 6 months ago:
Passkeys ftw

Well, it wouldn’t make any sense in Candy Crush, but otherwise… I can’t think of a game with jumping that wouldn’t benefit from some kind of double jumping

I suspect Neon Prime will be the spiritual successor to TF2

That’s also only partially true. Most of the human detection is done by collecting metadata about your browser and how you interact with the widgets.

Took me a while to work out who Eric Andrew was
- Comment on Braid, Anniversary Edition Release Date Trailer 7 months ago:
Exactly. I wish someone had told me not to look up answers. I ruined so many ah-hah moments (fortunately not the moment). There’s so much bad advice online about how to approach the game. For anyone reading this who hasn’t played it:
- DO NOT browse any related online communities
- DO NOT look up answers
- DO NOT start a new game until you’ve reached the credit scroll
You’ll thank me afterwards

The Witness is my favourite game of all time. Each to their own I guess

He’s fallen into the trap of thinking his undeniable game dev genius makes him qualified to speak on other topics he has only a vague understanding of.
Many highly intelligent people make this mistake. John Carmack’s tirade against music notation is a topical example.

Basically a clause to accommodate ladder climbers?
- Comment on What do overnight shift workers do when the clocks change? 7 months ago:
This is not true where I live (New Zealand). Any hours over the weekly maximum specified in the contract (no more than 40 per week) are considered paid overtime. Additionally, the employer can’t unilaterally reduce the number of hours from what’s written in the contract.
- Comment on What do overnight shift workers do when the clocks change? 7 months ago:
That bit about the pay sounds highly illegal

There are some tricks to deal with mines - e.g. the “double jammer” dance will almost entirely de-risk a lot of the craziest levels.
