Minecraft had a similar problem even before AI drove the slop into overdrive. MCreator marketed itself as a code free means to create mods, and soon cookie cutter clickbait flooded the listings. The problems came swiftly as MCreator wasn’t optimised and created numerous bugs or incompatibilities that the ‘modder’ couldn’t fix without knowing how to code. They effectively became a liability to pack devs who would be refused support if one of these slop mods were involved.
Now we have AI accelerating the same slop for all games, with even shittier code, in a race to the bottom for the most clickbait garbage imaginable. These so called ‘mash-ups’ aren’t built to play nice with other handcrafted mods, and almost certainly won’t be maintained beyond their short-lived hypecycle.
It’s all pump & dump mods cashing out before the waning novelty can’t outweigh the shitty quality.

I wish outlets would stop perpetuating the bullshit unemployment metric and instead use ‘Functional Unemployemnt’ becuase that’s at a whopping 25%. That is to say 1 in 4 people are not paid a living wage and are effectively below the poverty line.
- Comment on Looks like Valve themselves added their own charts to the beta client. 1 month ago:
Haha get fucked VCs. Valve making sure that SteamDB buyout money ain’t coming back from their now devalued goods. It’s a shame we lost a good service but nice knowing it went out with a poison pill.
- Comment on Tried to login to the arch wiki but was given a 3 minute crypto challenge. 2 months ago:
Less sites are doing that to intentionally avoid tipping off the AIs about thresholds and trigger behaviours. The two main solutions are browser crypto challenges like this, or silently diverting flagged connections to a tar-pit of fake pages. The former is easier to implement but the latter actively sabotages the scraped data.
- Comment on As UK game development suffers its ‘sharpest recorded decline’, trade association calls on UK Government to act | VGC 6 months ago:
Except countries don’t fund the whole game and certainly not without conditions and criteria.
This also ignores indie devs who often only get their start self funding their project via day jobs. We could have so many more new ideas in niche genres if actually gave two shits about supporting new devs and not some AAA mega corp churning out the same uninspired garbage.
- Comment on Xbox consoles are now getting a fullscreen Xbox Game Pass Ultimate ad at boot, just a day after a 50% price hike was announced 1 year ago:
I switched to KeePassDX for this reason among others.
- Comment on Thank you, Thor! 1 year ago:
The latter works better, then you can go full Lily Tino when called out and ‘attacked’ for the obvious BS.
- Comment on Why do so many UK electrical sockets have an on/off switch next to them? 1 year ago:
I’d like to think Australia has a nice middle ground design to their sockets/plugs without the foot destroying bulk. Still get the shutter variants for bathrooms too.
- Comment on writeup: The COD remote perma ban exploit 1 year ago:
For devs who routinely boast about their (ineffective) anti-cheat, this is truly some amateur hour code. No wonder cheaters run rampant in their games.
- Comment on Ubisoft comes crawlin' back to Steam 2 years ago:
As much as I agree the 30% cut can be a bit steep, I do appreciate that part of it is going into ongoing R&D like Steam Deck and Proton benefiting the whole gaming industry. I’d like to think of it like Valve are investing into PC innovation similarly to the way Playstation, Xbox and Nintendo do for their new consoles.
