What’s wrong with it is perfectly obvious: it doesn’t merely ask, it takes the decision away from you.
- Comment on Final Fantasy iOS game shuts down over unfixable bug 1 month ago:
I’d be curious what the change is. I think it’s just as likely that this is yet another case of Apple pulling the rug out from under devs.

- Comment on Capcom is experimenting with generative AI to help generate the “hundreds of thousands of ideas needed for game development" 2 months ago:
People will call you an asset flip if you do that. Plus I don’t know if all of these games use engines compatible with “the” asset browser

Technically speaking, what’s the relationship between the “AT protocol” and the rest of the fediverse, like mastodon and Lemmy?

I’m sure Amogus and Doom 2 had something to do with it also
- Comment on Google seeks to undo Epic Games antitrust win over app store 3 months ago:
This would be so much more of a clear cut case if Apple hadn’t won in Epic’s suit against them for the same reason. That was a bad call, and now with that inconsistency, Google’s argument holds some water.
- Comment on Multilingual, open source and a 'distinctly European perspective': Germany's Fraunhofer Institute's OpenGPT-X research project releases large language model 3 months ago:
Is fraunhofer the group that used to / still do sue other organizations over video codec use? I assumed it was a company but apparently not?

Did they say why?
- Comment on AI Slop Is Flooding Medium 4 months ago:
How well does the “AI detection startup’s” product work? This is a big unsolved problem but I’d be hecka skeptical.

What if you found a portal to a parallel universe? What if you could slide into a thousand different worlds where it’s the same year, and you’re the same person but everything else is different? And what if you can’t find your way home?
- Comment on The LLMentalist Effect: how chat-based Large Language Models replicate the mechanisms of a psychic’s con 7 months ago:
There is no reason to believe that it thinks or reasons—indeed, every AI researcher and vendor to date has repeatedly emphasised that these models don’t think.

- Comment on EU Citizen's initiative to pass legislation to stop game publishers disabling games we paid for 7 months ago:
Good question. Presumably games like this will have a server that is proprietary, and the compulsion may simply be to make the server source or executables available

- Comment on AI Is Already Taking Jobs in the Video Game Industry 8 months ago:
No, generative ai is a blanket term that covers them both. Lots of people are both forcefully opinionated about this topic, and clueless. Like the person you’re responding to

A lot of people don’t seem to “get” digital privacy and this is really well articulated. Will be sharing when it comes up

- Comment on Apple Vision Pro U.S. Sales Are All But Dead, Market Analysts Say 8 months ago:
I happened to be in the apple temple to supplicate the priests there for an exorcism for one of my other infernal contraptions. I saw the vision pro sitting around while he did his incantations so I thought I’d check it out and it turns out they won’t let you without an appointment. It’s like they don’t want to sell these
