- Comment on Microsoft doing shady Microsoft stuff again 1 week ago:
So many sites don’t work in it though, mapping utilities in particular, and banks.
- Comment on Randy Pitchford Snaps Back at Borderlands 4 Criticism: 'Code Your Own Engine' 2 weeks ago:
Maybe I’m just wildly crazy here, but I think a $70 game from a big studio should run well.
We’re not talking some $15 early access title here that lacks optimization because it’s like 2 guys making it in their free time.
- Comment on My credit union no longer allows me to payoff pending purchases made on my credit card 2 weeks ago:
One workaround is open a second checking account (or use buckets in your main account if your bank has those) and transfer the money there temporarily until the card payment is due.
- Comment on My credit union no longer allows me to payoff pending purchases made on my credit card 2 weeks ago:
Am I missing something? There’s no mention of doing it wrong or insisting they not use credit cards. Just a suggestion that would solve the issue from the bank changes…
- Comment on I fixed Borderlands 4's stuttering issue by upping my shader cache size to 100 GB, which feels like something I shouldn't have to do in a well-optimised game 2 weeks ago:
It could have looked like BL2 with a few upgrades and more physics and that would have been fine.

Why buy this absolute disaster of a game?
- Comment on 'Borderlands 4 is a premium game made for premium gamers' is Randy Pitchford's tone deaf retort to the performance backlash: 'If you're trying to drive a monster truck with a leaf blower's motor, you're going to be disappointed' 2 weeks ago:
Its a recent AAA game on a modern game engine, so it probably runs awful even on top of the line hardware.
Basically every game that comes out these days in the AAA space is a horrible unoptimized mess.

Umpqua? Are the Chinese brands from amazon selling milk now too?
- Comment on Over engineering my homelab so I don't pay cloud providers 1 month ago:
Yeah I’m running ZFS with raw disks, and most things are in containers anyways, just a few VMs for Windows or stuff that doesn’t like containers.
- Comment on Over engineering my homelab so I don't pay cloud providers 1 month ago:
It could be depending on the underlying filesystem and how it’s set up, I’ve run into that before.
But my self hosted stuff doesn’t need particularly fast disk IO, so I don’t really notice even if there is a bottleneck lol
- Comment on Over engineering my homelab so I don't pay cloud providers 1 month ago:
That sounds neat!
I’ve always read the performance hit of a VM is pretty minimal, like 1% or less on most tasks. Is it really that much faster for you?
- Comment on Can magnet damage hard disk? 1 month ago:
I doubt it would affect anything, it takes a very large magnet to damage a HDD from outside the casing.
- Comment on [Help request] How do I go about debugging my router? 1 month ago:
Are you trying to access the domain from inside your own network that it forwards to? If so that may not work due to the way NAT works.
Try from your cellphone data plan to verify.

With a normal CPU around 65W, you would be just fine with a 450W PSU.

I use SFTPGo, it’s also my WebDAV server, but I don’t know if it works on openwrt.

My Galaxy S21 has that, there’s a button to dismiss a notification and show it again in X minutes/hours.

An HTTP based file browser is probably the most universal, as all anyone needs is a web browser.
- Comment on What sort of grill needs a firmware update lol 2 months ago:
At least with ESPHome and other local-only devices they only update when you actually tell them to update.
- Comment on New radio day 2 months ago:
Interedting, the thing is my little UV-K5 can scan its 200 channel bank in about 2 seconds, so when traveling I just run that to figure out what repeaters are nearby. Or just look at the display name of the channel, since it can show 10 characters I have them named by location and what links they have.
- Comment on New radio day 2 months ago:
What do the memory banks help with? I’m curious because I recently returned a radio specifically because it used memory banks, making it impossible to monitor multiple channels spread across multiple banks (could only select channels from the current bank).
To me it seems like a huge limitation vs just having 1000 channels with no banks.

- Comment on Owners of laptops with very cheap aftermarket batteries, is it worth the discount? 3 months ago:
I’m always wary of aftermarket stuff just because poor quality cells can sometimes catch fire for no reason at all.
- Comment on Brazil rules that social media platforms are responsible for users’ posts 3 months ago:
I just don’t see how smaller social groups like forums or fedi stuff can survive if they need to potentially fight legal battles too.
