- Comment on Eve Online developers CCP are being sold off, according to reports 3 days ago:
My sort of turning point where I stopped playing was when they added the ability to pay IRL money or ISK for skill points.
It was a much more interested game to me when there was no way around the time investment of learning skills.
- Comment on Is there any softwares to download and sync with YouTube/PeerTube/Lbry? 3 days ago:
Pinchflat is what I use.
- Comment on Windows 11 user has 30 years of 'irreplaceable photos and work' locked away in OneDrive - and Microsoft's silence is deafening 4 days ago:
30 years of data and no backup system, sheesh.
- Comment on Mozilla Turns Firefox Away from Open Source, Towards Spyware: Firefox Labs Now Requires Data Collection 6 days ago:
Yes but it should always be opt-in. Just present a nice message telling users how it helps development with a checkbox.
- Comment on The Outer Worlds 2 Can't Be Anti-Capitalist When It's Charging Us $80 To Play It 1 week ago:
That’s sort of how it works though isn’t it? If games at $80 are too much then less people will buy, profits will drop and publishers will either lower prices, or vanish and get replaced by ones that lower prices.
- Comment on Windows 11 Start Menu Revealed as Resource-Heavy React Native App, Sparks Performance Concerns 3 weeks ago:
The start menu should not lag even on a 10 year old computer, that’s just absurd.
- Comment on You can now use authenticator apps to keep your GOG account secure! 4 weeks ago:
How? I can’t get it to give me the key, it just asks me to download their stupid app.
- Comment on Palworld confirms ‘disappointing’ game changes forced by Pokémon lawsuit [VGC] 1 month ago:
Especially since that’s a thing that almost every MMORPG does too.
- Comment on Open World Games: yay or nay? 1 month ago:
Generally nay I think. There are a few I enjoy like Minecraft or Space Engineers.
But in general open world is just more annoying to deal with.
- Comment on If you're still on Lemmy... 1 month ago:
That works as a specific action type thing, but I’d have to remember to go check every person I follow. Also without an account twitter doesn’t really let you do much, and sometimes completely blocks me from seeing a post.
- Comment on If you're still on Lemmy... 1 month ago:
Sure you can, but I can’t follow someone on twitter or bluesky from other platforms.
- Comment on If you're still on Lemmy... 1 month ago:
No because Twitter is a walled ecosystem, you can’t move to Bluesky and interact with people on twitter for example.
With federated stuff you can move and still interact with people on other instances.
- Comment on If you're still on Lemmy... 1 month ago:
old.reddit.com is still the best client.
- Comment on Why do people insist on not answering ALL the questions in an email or text message? 2 months ago:
You can mitigate most of it by having extremely clear emails that are fast to read, with clearly numbered questions.
- Comment on I lost 6 to 10 years of my retirement last week! 2 months ago:
Is that worth it when a normal savings account returns 3-5%?
- Comment on What TV series suffered by introducing an unnecessary romance between characters? And in the reverse, are there any TV series that suffered by NOT introducing a romance between two characters? 2 months ago:
I didn’t even make it though half of s2e1, it just has no ‘grab’ for me anymore.
- Comment on Lemmy.world is blocked in UAE and you don't allow using VPN/Tor to post. what is the solution here? 2 months ago:
Just use another server. No specific reason to be on that one.
- Comment on Is it possible to switch instances without making a new account? 3 months ago:
It can be hard to find content if your home server doesn’t interact with it enough.
- Comment on Is it possible to switch instances without making a new account? 3 months ago:
Most common reason is you don’t like how the server you’re on is run, or it doesn’t fit your hobbies well.
- Comment on Micro Thor vs. LoRa question 3 months ago:
Yeah sounds like a fun thing to try out
- Comment on Micro Thor vs. LoRa question 3 months ago:
Neat idea! Nothing is really going to go through multiple buildings in a city, so your best bet might be the ham bands that like to bounce off the atmosphere, bypassing the city entirely.
- Comment on Micro Thor vs. LoRa question 3 months ago:
LF/HF data modes generally have extremely long range, often to the other side of the planet in the right conditions. But Thor maxes out at 22 bps, whereas LoRa is in the 5 kbps - 20 kbps range, nearly 1000 times faster.
CB/11M band would likely get some good range with a low baud data mode. However a 4W CB radio is going to consume a massive amount of power and be very large physically compared to a LoRa device.
- Comment on CAPTCHAs are 'a tracking cookie farm for profit that made us spend 819 billion hours clicking to generate nearly $1 trillion for Google 4 months ago:
Cloudflare turnstile is also the only captcha system that works ok with most browsers and adblockers.
Especially Google recaptcha freaks out if you use Firefox or an adblocker or anything and asks you the hardest possible questions.
- Comment on Introducing Battlefield Labs | Battlefield Studios 4 months ago:
I’m not sure having a rate limit on signups means anything for what kind of users they’re looking for. The site was actually down last night probably from the sheer amount of traffic hitting it.
- Comment on Not enough people buying Premium, eh? 5 months ago:
I haven’t noticed any issues on Firefox, can also use an add-on to force specific quality.
- Comment on Which side of this dipole is ground? 5 months ago:
The side with the ground wire (shield), so left side on the photo.
- Comment on Not enough people buying Premium, eh? 5 months ago:
That actually makes more sense to me compared to most premium features. Higher quality directly costs more money to stream.
- Comment on Funko gets community noted 6 months ago:
Funko and their “partner” should be fined for fraud.
- Comment on [deleted] 6 months ago:
The bubble of AAA gaming and reviews/benchmarks definitely has that kind of thing going on. But you can really just ignore that subset entirely and have so many good games to play from smaller studios and devs.
- Comment on Silent but Deadly: I met some of my closest friends through multiplayer games. Then a strange happening turned everyone (literally) speechless. 6 months ago:
Most multiplayer games now seem to focus on matchmaking and your performance, there’s not much focus on community anymore.
Everyone just plays for the highest score and doesn’t care about hanging out on a community run server every night with the same group of people.
