I don’t know if this is it but, what you describe is called “imposter syndrome”, if that helps. 🙂

On the Game Boy Advance, there’s Punch King…

I haven’t played either of them, so no promises that they’re good!
- Comment on How does DNA decide the shape of the body? 6 months ago:
Richard Dawkins has an entire chapter on this exact topic in his book “The Greatest Show on Earth”. I highly recommend reading it, even just that one chapter! It doesn’t feel like a text book, and his writing is very easy to follow in my opinion.
It’s chapter 8, “You did it yourself in 9 months”. To summarize, many people mistakenly think of genes as a “blueprint”, but he suggests it’s better to think of genes as instructions for origami paper folding. Genes don’t know the whole creature, they just know what to fold next, what to duplicate, what to bend, and so on, kind of like that. It’s been a while since I read it. 😅
But I do remember, humans are so complex, we may never fully understand the complete embryo-to-adult growth process, BUT the author points out that there IS a creature, a very small worm, that we are able to understand everything.
That may not seem like a big deal at first, but think about it. Scientists understand the complete growth process of a living creature, from a single cell, every gene, every cell, everything, up to when it’s fully formed. So cool.

Metroid II is my all-time favorite game in the series. It introduces her ship, introduces her iconic look, and is the last game in the series to not include the “break this with this item” blocks. I just love everything about that game.

Pokémon: Let’s Go Pikachu
FYI we got this game when we we got our Switch and it sat, untouched, for YEARS, until I finally picked it up a few months ago. Honestly, I REALLY enjoyed it! BUT… the first 30 minutes to an hour are very poorly done, and are soooo boring. After that it hooked me.
As someone who’s favorite game in the series is the original Pokémon Red, I think this remake was quite well done. It looks great (much better than Sword / Shield in my opinion), and really trims out a lot of the fluff and grind of the classic games.
Also if he’s playing, you can use the second controller to join him and casually help him catch and battle Pokémon. It’s cute. :)
Let me know if you want any more in depth review or info.
- Comment on In movies a strong woman is manly. (big muscles, aggressive, punches people, etc.) Is that really the way it is? 7 months ago:
Big willpower. Driven. Uncompromising. That kind of thing.
I think that is the answer. :)
I’m trying to think of examples from famous recent movies with women who have that description…
From Disney:
- Moana from Moana
- Joy from Inside Out
- Anna and Elsa from Frozen and the sequel
- Mirabel from Encanto
Have you seen any of those movies? If not, what movies have you seen?
- Comment on Who owns the servers for Lemmy? 8 months ago:
I don’t have a static IP address. I use a free dynamic DNS service.
- Comment on Who owns the servers for Lemmy? 8 months ago:
Is each instance like another person with a server?
I just wanted to add, any computer with an internet connection can host a web page! A desktop, a laptop, anything. That’s how the internet all started, as a collection on interconnected computers sharing data. I think many people nowadays forget this or even never knew about it (including me), since we live in a world where people spend all their time at like only a dozen websites. (Google, Instagram, Wikipedia…)
I have a public “webserver” in my basement. It’s just some random computer hosting some photos for family members. And it’s all completely free, I don’t pay anything to do it. I could easily pop an instance of Lemmy on it too.
The biggest hurdles in setting up a server from home are needing some technical knowledge, and a free domain name / URL usually looks a little silly (unkess you pay for one), and getting hacked is a very real threat unless you pay close attention to security.

Haha it’s true! When my Malaysian friend asked me for a torch, I was running around for five minutes looking for a lighter, like this one.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=0aKrxd1q3Mw&t=8
It’s all I could picture, no one ever asked me for a TORCH before. Like in Indiana Jones?? 😅
Until I stopped and asked, “Wait, what do you need it for?”
“To look at my car, something is wrong with the engine.”
…and that’s when I realized. We had a good laugh.

I was just pointing out the differences in goals.
Does Graphene OS come with microg, the open source reimplementation of Google Play Services, installed by default like it is on /e/ OS?
- Comment on What android phones do you recommend and why? 1 year ago:
They have different goals. I use /e/, where the focus is removing all communication with Google while providing a OS that’s as user friendly and ready to use as the competition.

The more I read about 2001 and the more I watch it the more I love it!
- Comment on [What is the best movie you watched last week?] 26 August 1 year ago:
I watched Jaws (1975), my first time! It was so good.
Two things stood out to me. One, I wasn’t expecting the movie to have such different first and second acts. It worked, but it surprised me. And two, Richard Dreyfuss’ character is incredibly well acted and fun. I don’t know, I was expecting the movie to feel “old”. Not only did it not, but his character in particular stood out as so well done and so fun to watch.
- Comment on The more I think about it, the more the 5 minute car commercial in Barbie bugs me. 1 year ago:
I just rewatched it. I didn’t see a “5 minute car commercial”. I saw a five minute car chase with humor and dialog that advanced the characters.
But all of the cars are Chevrolet brand. Is that the issue? I’m so confused! This is like the most minor “ad” I’ve seen in a movie.
I wonder what OP thinks of Olive Garden in Sonic the Hedgehog… 😅

- Comment on What's up with the end-to-end encryption notification all over the whatsapp? 1 year ago:
From what I understand, WhatsApp does have proper end to end encryption, which means messages can only be read by the sender and recipient. It’s a very good thing, and SHOULD be promoted in my opinion.
But that doesn’t mean WhatsApp respects your privacy. Even though the messages are encrypted, the actual app is still collecting and scraping every little piece of info about you possible. Think location, IP addresses, your contacts, what’s in your clipboard, camera, mic… I don’t know the details, but that’s where the privacy concerns come from.

I dress in a manner that makes me feel my best. 😌
I brought up dad shorts because I think some people might find that look cute! Despite people or websites saying to avoid them.

- Comment on What are good examples of cute as a look for men/masculine folks? 1 year ago:
I was really worried about not looking cute and looking too “tough” since I started buzzing off all my hair due to baldness. But I think it’s been ok. I wear dark thick framed glasses, and a lot of light or pastel colored clothes. I keep a VERY short beard, just to give me some fuzz and distract away from my head. And I smile a lot.
I’ve also started shopping for cute hats. It’s been tricky to find hat styles that I really like, but I’ve found some cute ones.

I was told to avoid “dad shorts”. XD Loose fitting, with a belt, sometimes with cargo pockets…
Would that style be more cute or less cute than an alternative?
