- Comment on Eric Schmidt: ‘We’re not going to hit the climate goals. I’d rather bet on AI solving the problem.’ With "alien intelligence"! 1 month ago:
I think we are past the tipping point now, it’s downhill from here and what we do to reduce carbon emissions will only determine how fast we go down that hill.
- Comment on Walmart's use of digital price tags signal the future of retail shopping, but consumers are worried 2 months ago:
I’m pretty sure this was in the book of revelations.
- Comment on Some fundraisers pay >90% of the funds to themselves 4 months ago:
Which is why I don’t donate to big charities, they have to earn a lot of money covering management salaries and marketing budgets before a single dollar goes to where it is needed.
- Comment on Is there any real physical proof that Jesus christ ever existed? 4 months ago:
As an atheist I believe Jesus existed, I just don’t think he was the son of god or that he was resurrected.
It would have been far easier to start a religion around a real man with actual followers than if he was a figment of someone’s imagination.
- Comment on Federal Coalition commits to dumping 2030 climate target as it pursues nuclear power 5 months ago:
That’s such a 1950’s mentality, nuclear energy is the future!
It cost $500m to build RAC arena in Perth, construction of a nuclear power station will cost 10’s of billions, and we’d need more than 1. Who is going to run it? We don’t have trained nuclear technicians so we’d have to headhunt them from overseas in the short term until we can train local people.
Given we don’t have a nuclear power history, we’d be better to invest all that money in renewables. We have the land mass for solar farms, we have the coast line for wind and wave energy generation and there is no waste that lasts for 50,000 years that we have to store somewhere.
- Comment on Taxpayers forking out $600,000 for Bill Shorten's speechwriter over two years 5 months ago:
You know you don’t have to retire at 67, that’s just the age when you’re entitled to the pension. You fucked up or had some serious bad luck if your plan is retire on the pension. My mother-in-law is on the disability pension, she can just about afford her day-to-days bills, but anything unexpected we need to take care of it.
Assuming you aren’t a baby boomer, your superannuation should be enough to retire on, and at the moment you can get access to it at 60.
If you have built up a level of wealth that doesn’t rely on pension or super you can retire whenever TF you want.

Turkish drones have found the crash site, the helicopter was on fire and there is no signs of life. They could very well be alive, but I doubt it.

The Iranian president has reportedly died in a helicopter crash.
- Comment on What firing your PR team does to a motherfucker 7 months ago:
This so resonates with me, I used to think he was amazing. Now I wouldn’t buy a Tesla because of the petulant man-child.
- Comment on If there was an afterlife, how would it work? 11 months ago:
Reincarnation. Unless we’re all in the matrix that’s the only thing I can imagine being remotely plausible.
Waking up in some paradise with all of our loved ones who died before us there is just absurd and I’m amazed so many people blindly accept it.
- Comment on Can a company can itself Twitter now? 1 year ago:
No, because X would still own the Twitter name/brand/copyright.

I flashed my Shelly’s with the Homekit firmware from the link below and manage them via the HomeKit integration in HomeAssistant.
