- Comment on Why do most religious conservatives support capitalist ideology? 1 year ago:
Not sure if you are being serious. There are levels of socialism and social safety networks that still allow democracy and even capitalism. It’s regulated heavily, wealth is limited, and resources are shared to those who need it.
Bible Jesus fought systemic poverty & the shunned in society, made it very clear how he felt about the rich & powerful.
It’s mind-boggling to consider neoliberal christianity. It literally goes against everything your god/god’s son fought for… I don’t understand how christians aren’t leading the fight against wealth inequality, systemic poverty, and improved social systems.
“How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of heaven! Indeed, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of heaven.”
“Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’”
Jesus was a socialist.

Think of the thumb as a little ghost of your mum. Making her part of the photo and the moment.

Infuriating?? That’s adorable!! One day you might really appreciate that finger in that shot when you think back on your mum.

Yeah, we just did a rewatch and I’m still… not a stan. He just gives me the heeby jeebies.

don’t understand Barclay stans.
He was problematic AF and then when he did have confidence, he was always a bit of a dick. And he had the absolute worse combover in starfleet.

i’m reading a murder mystery series of books from Louise Penny called the Inspector Gamache series. Here’s a related quote:
“There are four things that lead to wisdom. You ready for them?’ Gamache held up his hand as a fist and raised a finger with each point. "I don’t know. I need help. I’m sorry. I was wrong’.”

“IT’S A GOOD DAY TO DIE!”
I deal with anxiety. One of the best ways to manage and even help make it better is to embrace the anxious situation head on and dive in, welcome the challenge. No one does that better than Klingons.

thanks! is this the best community to post this stuff when it happens? pretty excited about what we are building on alternative nation, but also know we are in the zero-point-X stage of the platform.
- Comment on Lwaxana Troi appreciation post 1 year ago:
“chaotic good” - i like that, perfect.
The Odo thing, mentioned in earlier comments, well, Odo was a bit of a fascist so I can live with Lwaxana making him very uncomfortable.
- Comment on Why do we not eat pig or cow? 1 year ago:
true! I poorly was thinking about poultry as a derivative of french words.
- Comment on Why do we not eat pig or cow? 1 year ago:
Tagger below explains it but also wanted to chime in that chicken is often “poultry”, but over time, we became comfortable with “chicken”.

hope it improves - hard to build on something when major federated instances have a broken connection with each other.
early days, though… still in a zero-point-X release state, I guess.

super weird - hopefully it’s just an issue of “early days” but if the instances (kbin and/or lemmy) have these weird disconnects, it only prevents people from really getting into communities.

Hey @Kill_joy@kbin.social is this about !AlternativeNation@lemmy.world ? Yeah, it’s super weird. I also found that if I searched for “music” under some Lemmy instances, Alternative Nation comes up for some, but not others. It’s one of the reason why I started posting in those instances and kbin.social to spread the word because Federation seems a bit “early days” still.
I saw similar issues with Federation with Mastodon in very early Lemmy versions, but that’s gotten much better. I hope Kbin & Lemmy get a little more synced up soon though! Want us all as one big happy alternative music community!
