- Comment on 'Strange Darling' distributor sues over box office underperformance 5 days ago:
Would make sense, I only heard of this movie scrolling recommendations on IMDB which I only do once a month. Didn’t see anything else about it and one podcast I subscribe to mentioned the movie for a minute so I made sure to try and catch it. Movie also wasn’t even at my local theater though I am in a small town.
- Comment on Funko gets community noted 1 week ago:
I understand all that, my comment was addressing it being mentioned that itch did nothing wrong which wasn’t true. The site themselves may not have purposefully knew of that content but it was there.
- Comment on "Interstellar" Did So Well in IMAX It’s Staying in Theaters 1 week ago:
This is great news, for the first IMAX run I didn’t even know my new town had an IMAX theater, by the time I found it this run was done but gonna go see it this weekend!
- Comment on Funko gets community noted 1 week ago:
On threads a few days ago there were images of indie games posted to itch which mentioned playing with using Funko characters so there was infringing content on itch but the domain takedown was way too heavy handed.
- Comment on Discussion - what is the last movie you couldn't finish? 2 weeks ago:
Borderlands and Dead pool & Wolverine. The former I put on when it was free on streaming cuz I was sick in bed and curious. Made it about halfway through paying like 80% attention. The latter I was really excited to stream and had a spare couple hours on evening so I threw it on and I loved the previous Deadpool and Wolverine/XMen movies but to me the jokes weren’t funny and guess I don’t know enough about 20thCenturyFoxs and Marvels IP to be in on the rest of the jokes

I have both sets of the coasters on the GN store, the rubber ones and they’re the best coasters I’ve had since they’re flexible and washablez highly recommend them

- Comment on Margot Robbie Baffled Over ‘Babylon’ Flop and ‘Still Can’t Figure Out Why People Hated It’: ‘I Wonder If in 20 Years People’ Will Be Shocked It Bombed 3 weeks ago:
I felt the same seeing the trailers in theaters, the trailer does the actual movie and story no justice. I’d say give it a shot even so, I thoroughly enjoyed the movie

Ooo there certainly was, thanks for the reminder
- Comment on I built a Home Theatre for the Price of a Soundbar, and it SLAPS! 4 weeks ago:
Not gonna watch the video but thanks for the post I agree with the sentiment. Most of my friends and family i know have soundbars and they work better than TVthan speakers but my old roommates don’t seem to remember the 5.1 setup I had later in college accumulated over about a year costing around $270. I still have the sub to this day and just replaced the $95 center last month.

- Comment on New Godzilla Movie in the Works from 'Godzilla Minus One' Director 1 month ago:
It doesn’t seem like it with Minus One having done so well and is even re releasing in the states, I’m going to see it on Sunday since I missed it the first time. Also don’t think the studio cares since they got the rights back a few years ago.
- Comment on [Weekly thread] It's Thursday, which movies have you been watching? 1 month ago:
Watched Strange Darling and Alien Romulus in the last week. The former was very good and perfect execution of the non linear story telling, acting was great and it was shot really well, just fantastically done all round. The latter was good, I’m not super into Alien but liked the horror film aspect and had lots of set pieces, was on the edge of my seat for a couple.

In an interview Todd Philips said he and Joaquin had no plans for a second movie until Joaquin had a dream about doing a second movie
- Comment on Ok boomer 2 months ago:
My local king soopers always allowed a super low volume setting if you clicked it, now there’s only two, yelling and screaming. People were probably setting that and the beep couldn’t be heard on the camera or something
- Comment on [Discussion thread] Joker - Folie à deux 2 months ago:
I didn’t notice that detail
Tap for spoiler
I thought he was slitting his throat not cutting his mouth that is a really good detail. Makes sense in that universe where there are no super and larger than life hero’s. Though I kind of wish instead they ended this movie with the explosion and could have a third with more Harley/Lady Gaga than what they gave her to work with in this film
- Comment on [Discussion thread] Joker - Folie à deux 2 months ago:
Your spoiler section is missing the point which is what the movie was showing and that’s rather funny.
::: spoiler Tap for spoiler There never was another joker or another personality. The whole point of this movie is Arthur thought he found a community and someone who loved him for the mess that he was but everyone only wanted the other Joker to start a movement or light the world on fire and in this world nobody gets what they want. ::
- Comment on A first look at Millie Bobby Brown and Chris Pratt in The Electric State. Directed by the Russo Brothers. Coming 2025. 2 months ago:
Maybe she is a part of that as well? Now she’s like 20 and wanting to be seen as an adult while having been on everyone’s televisions for years as an actual child, pretty wild someone may be struggling with fame at a young age I know.
- Comment on Will The Hunt for Gollum really be two movies? That’s got to be a stretch 3 months ago:
I think that’s more where this will lie, the elves or someone hunts him after he escapes but he gets away until Bilbo runs into him.
- Comment on 'It's What's Inside' trailer - Netflix horror movie looks like this year's 'Talk to Me' 3 months ago:
Hadn’t heard of this until now and definitely going to watch next month. Have really been enjoying the well done horror films that have been coming our the last 2-3 years
- Comment on [Discussion] Best recent modern Kung-Fu / Martial Art movies? 4 months ago:
Monkey Man that came out last year. I would say it’s fight scenes are very similar to the raid movies in how realistic they seem and feel plus pacing and crazy things they do. Though unfortunately/fortunately the action scenes are only 1/4 of the movie instead of 3/4, surrounded by a great story. I loved it
- Comment on Avatar 3 is officially titled "Avatar: Fire and Ash" 4 months ago:
I really enjoy them and looking forward to this third one but my interest is waning. Wasn’t terribly excited for the second but saw it in theaters and man it was incredible. The whole point of these movies and why they are landmark films is the budgets and technology available and implemented into them. Stories aren’t breaking any ground but they’re not trying to, that’s not the point.

Good to know steelbooks are still available now that bestbuy isn’t carrying physical movies anymore. Only ever really saw the steelbooks there.
- Comment on Box Office: ‘Longlegs’ Bedevils With Phenomenal $22.6 Million Debut, ‘Fly Me to the Moon’ Struggles to Lift Off With $10 Million 5 months ago:
Really wanting to see Longlegs but won’t be able to until next week or that weekend after. Glad to see it’s doing well and others are going to see it! Long live the indie horror films!
- Comment on We’re all feeling sequel fatigue – but Hollywood’s giving us Shrek 5 5 months ago:
That’s very true i wasn’t nit picking your post at all please keep it up, I actively avoid trailers so if I don’t see the movie popup on letterboxd or IMDb or here then I won’t hear about it.
I was more voicing frustrations with most comments I see on these posts always complaining about sequels.
This weekend and next week I’m hoping to see Maxxxine, Kinds of Kindness and Longlegs to vote with my wallet with what I want to keep seeing. I did also go see In a Violent Nature at my Alamo drafthouse and it was… An experience but glad I supported that small indie project for the first time director.
- Comment on We’re all feeling sequel fatigue – but Hollywood’s giving us Shrek 5 5 months ago:
Definitely not knocking all sequels, just most of the comments in this thread and over on movies@lemmy.world are all about Hollywood only making sequels anymore. I do want to see Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, Maxxxine and Quiet Place: Day One as well. Going to see either Maxxxine or Kinds of Kindness this weekend and hopefully Longlegs after that. Sequels can be done right and be great and lots have been done to prove that but seems that’s all people pay attention to now days while complaining that’s all that gets made apparently.
- Comment on We’re all feeling sequel fatigue – but Hollywood’s giving us Shrek 5 5 months ago:
Think we may need a bot to post this to all the Lemmy movie Cs, it is annoying that there are so many remakes but there’s also been so many brand new movie ideas and directors coming out in 2023 and 2024, go see those movies to show the studios what they need to make instead of 8 people posting Hollywood has no ideas anymore.
Ones off the top of my head to see right now, The Bikeriders, Kinds of Kindness, Longlegs and Thelma.
Now on streaming: Monkey Man, I saw the TV Glow, and Hit Man.
- Comment on Brad Pitt - F1 (2025) 5 months ago:
There is already a insanely popular show on Netflix about the real athletes every season so a movie about them as well is probably a little unnecessary. I know nothing about this script but hopefully based on a true story or something.
- Comment on Yesterday when I went to see Inside Out 2, one of the trailers was for a "Mufasa" movie, in the style of the last live action remake. What the heck. 5 months ago:
They’re just going to see bad numbers and fire everyone below them to use more AI and cheap rebrands or remakes and wonder why nothing is getting better
