Not sure how I feel about this one. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but this behaviour is just childish. What is she trying to do here? Scare him away, intimidate him.

It seems like Liberal parties only have interest in treating the symptoms, but not the disease. Similar to Panadol, Codral and Vick’s etc.

My point exactly, I mean it just seems absurd. The question is: what is gained by wearing a skirt?
I think I know the answer…

This nugget as well:
The concern of modesty was also dismissed by Mr Gordon given that the skirt was required to be long enough to touch the ground when kneeling, and the uniform policy permitted girls to wear shorts underneath their skirts.

Students with lesser dress sense as well. When I started uni I discovered a whole new anxiety I never knew I had, about trying to fit in which bothered me for the first couple of years and stopped me from going to classes, at least now I’ve given up caring. But the school uniform was good for people with social anxiety like me, if I had this bothering me at school it would be a whole different thing.
At the same time I think the school uniform policy in question here is stupid. I’m not female so I can’t relate to this but only imagine. It seems like QLD state schools are allowing the female students to wear pants. I will admit that I haven’t read the article but sounds like a pretentious private school

Personally if I was the hacker I’d chase the people around with it shouting “EXTERMINATE! EXTERMINATE EXTERMINATE!” I think that would be tasteful

- Comment on As a Palestinian living in the US, I have lost friends, job opportunities – and my faith in humanity | Arwa Mahdawi 2 months ago:
Abused a dog for years and now acts surprised that the dog bit them back. I don’t support HAMAS or the government of Israel. Both countries have a right to coexist peacefully. Given the history of the Israel/Palestine debacle it is hardly surprising that a group promising to destroy Israel is/was popular with a group of people oppressed by Israel. Similarly, with the election of the current Israeli government who seem to be elected to eliminate HAMAS and protect settlements in the west bank.
Let me make something crystal clear. All lives have equal worth. On October 7th ~1,200 Israeli civilians were killed, since then >40,000 Palestinian civilians. Surely no cause is worth killing civilians over. How do you justify that Israel is the good guy?

- Comment on NSW police attempt to block pro-Palestine rally on 7 October an ‘attack on fundamental democratic rights’, protesters say 2 months ago:
I imagine mods don’t allow support for protests, even though I thought lemmy would be the ideal place to post about this.
I thought of making a topic about it but i fear i might just get banned, since my previous post against military wasn’t exactly well received.
I mod this community as well as the main Australia one and the Australian politics ones on here. There’s nothing in the rules that say you can’t promote protests here and so long as they are peaceful protests I don’t really see a problem. Just so long as all discussion is civil and respectful.
- Comment on Pianist sues Melbourne Symphony Orchestra for cancelling his concert allegedly over Gaza stance 2 months ago:
At a concert in the Iwaki Auditorium in Southbank on 11 August, Gillham played a short piece written by Connor D’Netto called Witness, which is dedicated to journalists who have lost their lives in the Gaza conflict.
Introducing the work, the pianist addressed the audience, stating more than 100 Palestinian journalists had been killed, and that the targeting of journalists in a conflict was a war crime under international law.
I cannot tell from this that he made a political statement at all. It doesn’t seem like he said the Israel were even targeting journalists (something which could be reasonably made out as a political statement since there is no concrete evidence to suggest either).

Thanks for the post, in general when posting news articles please use the source title and put your personal commentary in the post body or a separate comment. I apologise for not putting this in the community sidebar yet but this is something we tend to do across the instance. It would be good if you could please change the title to the correct one:

That’s interesting, but given that it is a two-seat electorate there might be multiple candidates from each party as well. They should probably have a by-election for both seats to be balanced
