Beds seem to have their own personalities that interact with your own. You likely picked out your own bed and it’s just right for you and feels the best! But then you stay at your folks place and the bed they offer does the job but it’s sort of old and stuff and not as inviting as yours. Or maybe you stay with a friend on their futon and it’s lumpy and the sheets stick to your clothes. Nothing beats your bed at home though.

I’m willing to give you 1 out of 3. No we do not put chocolate on everything. No we do not put ranch on everything, but some unhealthy individuals put it on every vegetable. Yes we deep fry everything and goddamn does it taste good.

This is why working from home was such a game changer. I could throw a load of laundry in and fold it during a meeting. I could go to the grocery store on my lunch break. I could use the extra 3 hours a day I would normally take commuting to do things like exercise, cook a healthy meal, or just get more sleep. Fuck the healthcare company I work for that insists that in-person interactions are more important than the quality of life I had working from home.

That show one just reminded me that when we bought our house and had to start renovations on it, the attic had lots of women’s shoes. Just one shoe from a pair and all different shoes. I have so many questions for the previous owner, but unfortunately they are no longer with us.

They already make lactase drops and powder you can add to your food. I personally just think it’s easier to take a couple pills before I eat pizza instead of having a bunch of chalk dust sprinkled on it.

It’s not always that there’s too much butter. Sometimes it’s because the butter had a higher fat content or because the dough wasn’t chilled enough before baking.

Maybe it depends on the students, but based on the ones I’ve met, this couldn’t be farther from the truth. My family took a trip rafting in the Grand Canyon for 6 days in 130 degree heat. It was highly taxing on the body and you needed to be very in tune with your body during the trip to assure you didn’t get heat sickness. There were 2 people on the raft with my family serving as tour guides and experts. One was an older and very seasoned expert who knew the canyon and its history like it was their very soul. The other was a young geology student who was training to do the same. During this trip, all of us experienced the same physical challenges, but our guides were also tasked with keeping us safe and informed, setting up camp, and navigating any additional challenges that the rest of us wouldn’t be knowledgeable in. Oh and steering the fucking raft through some extremely dangerous areas that even seasoned rafters fuck up sometimes. It was a wild trip, but I’ve got a lot of props for the geologist and student that served as our guides.

As a former singer I used to bring my sheet binder with me to do exactly this. Id memorize lyrics, work on pronunciation, rhythm, cues, etc. there’s a lot you can do to silently work on a piece of music.
- Comment on Alcohol is "amazing" - Kurzgesagt 2 months ago:
Have you tried replacing alcoholic drinks with non alcoholic drinks? I switched to non alcoholic cocktails and non alcoholic beer which has become very common and quite good where I’m from. So this allows me to continue to hang out and socialize with friends as usual. I don’t have to turn down going to a bar with them and I can bring my own beverages to parties. It won’t help loosen you up, but you can still socialize like you always do without making a big thing of the fact that you’re off alcohol.

We bid 10k under asking price because the owner ripped the place up and it needed tons of work. They said they would not accept any offers under asking. We thought about it and decided the house was in the perfect location and made the offer at asking price. They also were not happy about that because this was in 2021 and everything was selling for a ton over asking price. Thing is, those houses you could move into with minimal changes. This house needed abatement and a gutted bathroom and kitchen. We were the only offer and they begrudgingly accepted and tried every which way to nickel and dime us before closing.

I agree. Some kids need extra motivation to get them to practice reading so it really shouldn’t matter how dumb the subject matter seems. Whatever gets them to open a book and practice is good.

At my first job that literally employed 10 people, the internal IT manager left for a better job. He had been working for them for 5 years and did all sorts of things that weren’t in his job description much like all of us since there were, you know, 10 of us. I remember them complaining about not getting any applications and also asking me in the marketing department about how to entice new candidates. My coworker and I looked at the job posting which required 10 years of experience for entry level pay and both suggested that they either need to pay more or reduce the experience required. Their excuse for not doing so basically amounted to that they were paying the previous guy this amount so surely they don’t need to pay more. Except… He left? Because of money most likely? It baffled me how they just couldn’t connect the dots there.

In the US it’s cheap but unregulated and full of shit that’s terrible for you. Or you can pay an arm and a leg for stuff that’s better but still not up to the standards of most other countries. I learned this by getting a chemical burn in my eye from sunscreen… meant for my face.

My inlaws took in a Russian family a few years back. It was quite the culture shock for them to get a giant jar of pickled tomatoes and drink hole glasses of the brine. I like pickles and all, but that’s just too much 😆
- Comment on This fell off my car, can I just rip it off and not care? 4 months ago:
Generally it’s fine to remove those but I would consider having it put back on if you live anywhere that gets snow. Reason being is that this plate protects undercarriage parts from excessive corrosion as a result of salt on the roads. So your car isn’t going to break down if you remove it, but if you plan to keep the car long-term, it can extend the life of those parts. As someone who works on my own car and has also had several 15+ year old vehicles, I can attest that this plate does indeed reduce corrosion in those areas.

I was lucky enough to experience the 4 day work week for 1 glorious year. I used my extra day to schedule weekday appointments without taking time off, taking care of chores so I could enjoy the weekend more, and doing more hobbies when I wasn’t doing those other 2 things. It was the best quality of life I ever had.

I know this isn’t what you want to hear, but the real trick to managing pests in your home, is to allow the right predator pests to exist. The best ones are spiders and centipedes. Centipedes are especially the best because they won’t ever hurt you, they mostly stay out of sight, and they don’t leave webs hanging around. But when you do see one you will probably freak the fuck out. You just have to remember that they eat earwigs and mites and such and try not to kill them. Spiders are also great to keep around, but there should be a big asterisk about how I live in Illinois and most spiders are harmless here.
