I’ve actually seen 2 recent practices that I hate more than this. While this is frustrating, at least you can input a custom tip. I’ve also seen them where they show 3 different dollar amounts that don’t indicate percentage but doing the math, it’s definitely way over the usual 20%. Then there’s the one I hate the most which I keep seeing at places where you don’t usually tip. You go to pay with your card and the little transaction/card machine shows different tip amounts, the default of which is already set. If you don’t want to leave a tip, you have to figure out which button to push to do so. They’re all different and it can be very confusing. I even saw one where each option was labeled in correlation with a button on the screen, except that they didn’t match up. And what do you do then? Ask the person at the register how not to tip them?

I’ve experienced this to a similar degree. Most of my family are small town people and I grew up without money in a small town. I moved to Chicago where I’ve been relatively successful and want to share some of the experiences I’ve had with the people I love. But I think the best test of whether or not I can actually include someone in certain activities is how they show up to a funeral. The reason that this is a good test is because you can tell who put in even a smidgen of effort to try to look nice and be respectful and who didn’t. And having grown up without a lot of money, I can tell you right now that it doesn’t cost much to go to the thrift store to get something that looks even a little bit nice even if it’s not standard. The last funeral I went to, you could immediately tell which family members didn’t try at all and just showed up in sweat pants and tshirts. Those are the people I wouldn’t take to certain places. Id maybe take them to touristy places, but that’s about it.

For anyone that needs this information, you can (currently) order abortion medicine online in any state. I did it today and it was stupid easy to do. I’m not pregnant, but I wanted to order some as a just-in-case for myself or others.
The Plan C website has a great list of websites you can order from if you’re not pregnant. It costs about $150 and some offer financial assistance if you need it. But please do it NOW.
I ordered one from Aid access and one from safe choice. Both asked a few questions that didn’t ask for personal information or ID. They mostly just need an email, address to send it, and a credit/debit card to pay.
Good luck out there everyone.

I used to be disgusted that people didn’t seem to care that they were risking their own privacy and national security to boot. But then I remembered that our own government won’t do anything to keep our individual privacy in check from corporations. So as long as that’s the case, I don’t see why anyone should give a fuck. The government did this to themselves.

I actually don’t think this would be bad. Growing up, my mom used to make tuna casserole and it was one of my favorite casseroles. Looking at the recipe, this is mostly the same, except you sub noodles for waffles. What’s one carb for another? I could do without the olives though…

The last apartment I had, the landlord at some point had put very rough outdoor quartz tiles in the kitchen. They were porous and had crevices everywhere so were impossible to keep clean. Our routine became vacuuming for regular cleaning, mopping any sticky spots when needed, and getting on our hands and knees once a year to scrub the tile with soap and brushes. It was the only way to actually clean the tile and the tile would change colors every time we did it. Did I mention that this tile has been installed over 3 more layers of flooring? Classic landlord special apartment.
- Comment on AT&T's CTO tells his US team there won't be 'one-for-one seating' upon the return to 5 days in office — read the memo 2 months ago:
This is what I hate about my company’s hybrid RTO policy. There aren’t enough seats for everyone and it’s not full RTO so we have to schedule our desks ahead of time. Aside from the typical back to office complaints, here are all the reasons I’ve found that hot seats suck:
-
You have to bring all your shit and pack it all up again before you leave including keyboard, mouse, my foot rest because I’m short, etc.
-
You have to readjust the desk, chair, and monitor every time you come in.
-
Because of the previous, the monitor is loaded with grubby fingerprints.
-
Not all desks are the same. Some are in better locations, some have 1 monitor and some have 2, some are longer, some are more adjustable, etc, etc and people fight for the best desks.
-
There aren’t enough meeting rooms and call booths for everyone and people will often just take a room for extended lengths of time or just take a room you signed up for.
-
They make the argument that we need to make connections in person, but my team is in another part of the country and every time I come in, I’m sitting by new people which prevents me from making relationships with people I would otherwise sit nearby on a regular basis thus defeating the purpose.

- Comment on Broccoli, cheese, and MILFs 2 months ago:
I feel you. I weirdly did have vegetables and things growing up, but my mom self admittedly hates cooking. So most of what we ate consisted of casseroles made up of things dumped out of a can and any veggies likely also came from a can and we’re heated up on the stove. She also over cooked all the meat to make sure people wouldn’t get sick. So all the veggies were bland and mushy and all the meat was dry as fuck. I’ll never forget the first time I ate fresh pineapple at my inlaws house and it was one of the best things I ever tasted. I’m pretty good at cooking now and I’ve managed to help my mom improve in all ways as well. She now uses a meat thermometer that I got her for Christmas. I cooked her some fresh broccoli in a pan with salt, pepper, and garlic powder and she loved it and started making hers that way instead of boiling it. Baby steps, but we’re making progress.

Google the issue
Google the issue + office for Mac
Find a forum about the exact issue I’m having
Loads of people commenting having the same issue
Expert answers and says “That feature is not available for Macs at this time. How about you post it as a suggestion for the devs at this link here>>>”
Post is minimum 3 years old and there’s still no solution.
Gee thanks.

Liz Lemon - Doughnuts?
James Bond - Vodka Martini shaken not stirred
Scooby Doo - Scooby Snacks
Shaggy - also Scooby Snacks
Pooh Bear - Honey
SpongeBob - Krabby Patty
Etc etc etc…
- Comment on I can't imagine being paid to act like I enjoy working in the office 2 months ago:
I didn’t interpret this as it’s bad to make people come to the office that physically need to be there or that it’s judging them for not taking PTO. I interpreted this as a cringe showboat where they try to show how cool it is to be in the office and everyone should love being in the office. The commentnand response at the bottom about the open floorplan say it all.

As much as it was sad to see a lot of restaurants die during COVID, there were an awful lot of sushi abomination restaurants out there that I think we’re all better off without. I actually had to stop eating sushi for a few years because we would try to order sushi and it would just be disgusting. You’d get either 1 of 2 scenarios - it was some very gimmicky sushi that you’d never eat more than once, or it was gross because the quality just wasn’t up to par during lockdown. And sushi is unfortunately one of those foods that’s very unforgiving and if you have even 1 bad experience, you won’t be going back to that establishment. So I can see why a lot of them closed.

We had a dog once that was super smart and would learn what different words meant very rapidly. I’d say with most dogs I’ve had, you can go most of their life and they’ll maybe learn 2-3 different words for “dinner” and you can use other words if you’re trying not to excite them too much. But this dog I swear near the end of her life we would have to say ridiculous things around her like “Did you put the K9 cereal in the receptacle?” because she had learned just about every other basic way to say “did you feed the dog?”.
