We still have one in Illinois but I’m not sure how it’s still holding on. Used to love going in there. Loads of specialized parts and equipment as well as staff that were super knowledgeable and helpful. But at least we have Microcenter now… Which is like if you took a Fry’s and scaled it down and made it work more like a car dealership 😭😭😭

Can someone please teach whoever made this about the basics of graphic design? I can hardly read this ity-bity condensed as fuck text on top of a potato quality complicated background. Good God.
- Comment on Clueless about Biology 3 weeks ago:
I could be wrong, but I think the original idea for the matrix was that they were using human brains for processing power and not energy. But someone in the movie making process decided people wouldn’t understand that and instead went with the battery analogy.

First sentence: wow I absolutely agree. It’s such a shame that mothers have to go back to work so soon after giving birth. We should work toward guaranteeing parental time off for all parents.
Second sentence: yeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaah… Um… Nevermind.

- Comment on What have you been pondering about as of late? 1 month ago:
I’ve been trying to decide the best “lazy” way to make homemade dark chocolate peanut butter cups. Typically, you would have a mold and put a bit of melted chocolate in the bottom of each mold and then use a brush to paint chocolate up the sides and then put it in the fridge to solidify and then put the peanut butter fudge in each one and then dump more chocolate on top and then wait for that to solidify and then pop them all out. But… I think I can maybe just dip each one in chocolate and let it solidify in the mold? Less steps means I can make more cups and then I can have a large supply to last me longer. But maybe then there won’t be enough chocolate on the PB cup? Maybe I don’t need that many PB cups in my life? But the ones I buy right now are super expensive and this would save me some money 🤷

- Comment on Yesterday in Kroger (a supermarket for you non-Americans) I saw a bunch of cans of potato salad. Why would someone buy canned potato salad? 2 months ago:
First of all … ew. I don’t know who this is for honestly. Maybe it’s one of those things that was used during war times that’s now sold in stores because why not? Second, we have lots of Krogers in the US and they are currently trying to merge with Albertsons which would essentially create a monopoly on grocery stores. Let’s all hope that doesn’t go through.

- Comment on Movies that “go from 0-100” in the last 15 or so minutes? 5 months ago:
Bone Tomahawk is a great example of this even if not necessary the last 15 min. Most of the movie is a pretty ok western. Bad stuff starts happening and it’s still a pretty ok western. Then there is 1 specific scene that goes so hard, you’ll want to forget you ever laid eyes on it. Then it’s back to western movie but now you have to remember the shit you just saw 🤣

- Comment on WebMD forcing employees back to office. "We aren’t asking or negotiating at this point. We’re informing" 8 months ago:
That was a good article with lots of great sources. But my tinfoil hat is telling me that all of these large companies demanding return to office aren’t doing it because “beliefs”. They’re doing it because the people have gained too much power in the last few years and this is the strategy to put them back in their place. Lay people off in hordes while interest is skyrocketing and demand more from them if they want to keep their jobs. Make them afraid and vulnerable so we can control them better. But again… that’s the tinfoil hat talking.
- Comment on Stephen Fry wants King's Guard to ditch bear fur 8 months ago:
I am on the fence about this subject. On one hand I would like to see a world someday where we don’t need to kill animals for food or fur. On the other hand, we haven’t yet found environmentally friendly material replacements for some of these applications. I hear on the news about things like pineapple leather and mango fur, but I have yet to see them used in something practical that would help reduce the use of animal products. Like sure, I can buy a purse, but when will there be an alternative for car seats or shoes that isn’t made of plastic. I really hope someone out there is working on a solution, but until then I’m really not sure which is worse. Fake fur hats will just add to the piles of plastic like everything else :/
- Comment on The march towards an all-EV future hit a major roadblock. What went wrong? 8 months ago:
It’s framed very inaccurately in the news as well. You’ll see articles about how ford reports people aren’t buying their electric lineup. Meanwhile the dealership is marking them up so high that they are now priced too high for the target market. But the articles never mention that part
