I fucking love it, tells me exactly who to block so I never have to see CCP shill posts ever again :)

Even stranger marketing campaign, if you can even call it that. It was like four YouTube videos and some tweets.

So now its not xenophobia, it's because people don't like the popularity of Fortnite? How about lets not handwave all of Tencent's crimes against humanity with "you're just xenophobic" or "you just don't like Fortnite". Nobody of any good conscious should support that company or any of its owned companies (partially or otherwise).

referencing xenophobic shit like “because china”
Disliking a company that aids in genocide makes you "xenophobic"?
Content that Beijing deems “subversive” has also been forced to be removed from both platforms. Human rights experts are well aware of the ways that these apps have been utilized to spy on Uyghurs and other dissenting voices and are used to persecute these individuals and their family members. Information collected from WeChat can be enough to land one in a concentration camp or prison, as is the case for many Uyghurs who have contact with foreigners or family members who are abroad. Tencent, WeChat’s parent company, is thus clearly complicit in the genocide of Uyghurs, amongst other affronts on human rights. The United States administration has not been alone in acknowledging this, India has also banned far more Chinese apps than were addressed by the U.S. executive order on August sixth.

I've got the benefit of nostalgia I guess, but I played through the original a few months ago for probably the fifth time in my life and still enjoyed myself. The main things that has aged is the ugly character models, this mod can improve those. Might want to look as some of these as well. You want to play through the original+crisis core first before the remake for... reasons.

Funny enough Yoshi P was the one that said turn-based was outdated and he's worked on DQ before but only the MMO, arcade games, Minecraft clone and a Wii FPS thing. I think it's pretty obvious he just doesn't like the genre. DQ11 was the breakthrough hit in the West and he had nothing to do with it.

Final Fantasy moving away from turn-based because it's "outdated" is peak Square silliness. Have they ever heard of chess, card games, board games, DnD, Civilization, Persona, Dragon Quest, XCOM, Darkest Dungeon? If anything, DMC-style character action games are far more niche.

- Comment on Introducing the Epic First Run program 1 year ago:
It's all just Epic talking points. "Lower cut means more money for developers! Lower cut means lower prices!" It's never been proven to be true. Shit in some cases I'd much rather my money go to Valve than the developers anyway. Much rather fund Linux/Vulkan/VR development than whatever bullshit Rockstar, EA or Activision are up to.

Wake me up in two years when they add Female MC and The Answer please. I wouldn't mind as much if they were released as DLC but you just know it will be a separate "Persona 3 Reload Ultra Blue" release or whatever.
- Comment on Counter-Strike 2 Makes Significant Development Towards Release 1 year ago:
Aiming down sights was always a console thing. It's extremely hard to make small aiming adjustments on a joystick, so game devs added a button to move the camera in and reduce sensitivity. CoD popularized it, and every FPS shooter wanted to ride CoD's coattails so it's pretty ubiquitous now. For a game like CS it would homogenize the guns a bit, since there's a clear delineation between guns that can be scoped and those that cannot.
- Comment on Counter-Strike 2 Makes Significant Development Towards Release 1 year ago:
We're talking about Counter Strike here, it's been the same game for 20+ years at this point. Any two subsequent CS games are going to be very, very similar. Most of them didn't even feature an engine upgrade like we're getting now. Plus if you pay attention to the CS2 datamines, it looks like Valve have planning to add way more than just what they've announced so far. There most definitely will be new content.

Yoshi P, game directory for FFXIV and FFXVI, famously decried the term. Which is probably why FFXVI has basically no RPG elements.
- Comment on Every game developer company should be like this 1 year ago:
I would too. But charging upfront for a multiplayer game is pretty much a recipe for disaster these days. Subscription model I can't imagine would be popular either. It's better to eliminate barriers to entry in a game that relies on a big player pool, game pass helps a bit but not much.
- Comment on Every game developer company should be like this 1 year ago:
Yeah that's exactly my point. There wasn't much monetization to begin with and what little there was got criticized to death. Nobody wants to buy cosmetics in a game surrounded by that much negativity because they can lose it if the game dies. It's an impossible environment to make money in.
- Comment on Every game developer company should be like this 1 year ago:
What's wrong with it? Literally every single gameplay-related item in both Dota and CSGO are free. 100%, no strings attached. You can experience the entire game and what it has to offer without spending a dime. You have to charge for something. These companies aren't making these game out of charity, they are in fact businesses.

- Comment on Every game developer company should be like this 1 year ago:
So many people don't get this. Case in point: the latest Gundam game. The game is completely free, only a couple characters and some pointless cosmetics cost money. The characters you could get for $20 and the cosmetics were not bad either, not even 1/10th as bad as something like Dota or Valorant. And yet people still complained about the monetization like crazy. It's almost like the people making the game aren't working for free and actually need to make money at some point...
- Comment on Mortal Kombat 1 will have 24 fighters at launch 1 year ago:
Even Square Enix is questioning whether they should still have numbered titles anymore. Media execs just hate the concept these days, I have no idea why. You would think at the very least they would try and avoid naming two games the same name, but nope... We got to have fan-names like Doom (2016) and God of War (2018) now because studios can't keep their names straight.
- Comment on Austin recommends: Exoprimal…but not for $60 (Review) 1 year ago:
Game is honestly a lot of fun, you just have to play for a few hours before you start unlocking more enemies and game modes. Most people won't reach that point and think that payload and five enemies are all the game has to offer.
