Ramen, PB&J, etc was my goto for lunch. On Fridays I would go out to lunch w/ the team but not everyday like they did. Saved a ton.
Did the same thing on the road and pocketed the per diem… Send off diner was about the only time I went out and I could expense the meal. I was hosting the client after the project was complete per my management.

But I bet is all in the prep and the diet of the GP. Ever eaten grass fed beef from calf to slaughter vs grass “finished”. Its night and day, I can see why grass fed is so expensive.

You know what got me when I was visiting China was that “Royals/Nobel” collected thin disks of jade as a sign of their wealth/influence/skilled tradesmen/maybe spiritual.
The theory’s are all over the place, I believe it was a status symbol.
