We have a lot of days in the upper 30s here every summer. I don't know how anyone can do anything without being drenched in sweat here.
- Comment on Anon likes bikes 9 months ago:
Tokyo actually requires bicycle insurance to be carried by riders now. Nothing nationwide here.

You can do what I did and move to another country. It just takes a lot of time, work, and money to get there (though money can accelerate the former two, in some cases).

11 in my neck of Tokyo. The last few nights have dipped below freezing, however. This probably isn't super weird for the time of year here, however. Going up to visit the inlaws for the end of the year, and it's currently 0 up there. Last year, I think we hit -15 whilst we were there, but this year it looks like the low is going to be freezing (which is rather warm for northeastern Japan in December).
- Comment on What's up with Epic Games? 11 months ago:
Exclusives suck for everyone. Especially when Epic started out, they only had payment processors in certain countries. This meant that some people literally had no legal way to play the Epic exclusives. I'm not sure where they stand today, but that annoyed me enough, along with other shenanigans by Epic and Sweeny, that I avoid the whole ecosystem.
- Comment on I got this popup ad on my TV **while watching a DVD** 11 months ago:
Proof? There are other (some equally creepy) ways that it could get this info. Depending upon how the DVD player is connected, it could simply be getting info from that. It could also be taking occasional screenshots. There are other things as well.
Edit: poster below links to Roku and they use screenshots.
- Comment on I'm locked out of my 6 year old Chipotle account because they now say my email address is invalid when I login. Here is me asking for their help: 11 months ago:
I signed up to an insurance company here in Japan with first.last+something@domain.com and they later changed their rules and I couldn't sign in at all. They told me to open a new account. I didn't want to pay them once let alone twice. Never doing business with them again.

I would add old phone books and newspaper records at the public library.

I hope he gets referred to the police for his bullshit, sits in a cell, and then gets perma-banned from here.

I spend something equivalent to around $2k in USD every 5-7 years and I'm fine.

Historically, a lot of walking and eating home-cooked meals that were high in veggies and fermented foods and probably eating lots of seafood and seaweed with other proteins being less frequent.
Milk wasn't even a part of school lunches until after the war, so people still kicking from the pre-war times mostly grew up without it.
I suspect, though, that life expediencies here are going to drop. Lots of fried food and such these days and I see more and more obese people.

I didn't recall hearing of this person before (though more likely I forgot) and looked him up. I couldn't even make it through the above video, but he's definitely doing something right, heh. Different strokes for different folks.
I did make it to Ohio and now want some Donatos, which is a phrase I never would have expected to come out of my mouth.

In my experience (had a Costco membership near Columbus, OH before moving to Japan, have been to 1 Costco many times after coming), yes.

Costco Japan (at least around greater Tokyo) also tend to hire people who speak at least some English in addition to Japanese. However, these people also have to deal with Costco Japan (super packed, people with huge carts and zero situational awareness blocking whole aisles whilst faffing about on their phone not even shopping, etc.), so that definitely requires a premium.
