Cool! I’m playing on Dusk as well. I played on the Wii back in the day. This time playing on original world mirroring.

Ah yes, now that you mention it I do remember that!
Although I don’t know if I agree with the lefty erasure part. I am right handed so maybe I have bias, but it just makes sense. You want it to feel like you are connected with Link when swinging, not disconnected. And more people are right handed. 🤷♂️

I played this on the Wii back in the day. Now playing on Dusk, and all the levels are flipped horizontally. 😅 Such a weird discrepancy between the two platforms.

Are you playing on Dusk or on the real hardware? 🤓

Sounds to me like they blame their anti-cheat system for their own ineptitude.
Rocket League still being playable after all these years and they just added Easy Anti-Cheat that still works on Linux via Proton, I would be very surprised to see if the UE6 version wouldn’t be playable. I feel confident there.
But you never know. 😬

You figured it out 🤷♂️
- Comment on 3 days ago:
they might try to dump the linux support.
That would be such a bad move now that Linux is starting to take off as a serious gaming platform. Also the hate for big tech is growing so it’ll only escalate from here.
- Comment on 3 days ago:
Yeah, they are correct. Steam works fine, you just need to set the compatibility to Proton in RL settings in Steam. Then it will download the Windows version of the game. You can do so before installing, even, I believe, so it will install the correct version right away.
I’ve been playing like this for years now. Great not to have to boot into Windows. 😌
- Comment on 3 days ago:
they did stop updating the linux version on steam
Correct. Luckily Proton has very good performance.
It would be really cool if it would come back on Steam as RL2, but I have no hope for that. They have zero incentive to list their games on Steam as their competitor.
I never traded so I’m fine. But it was very controversial.
Not sure if you need an Epic account actually, I don’t think so? I can still play on the Switch without linking, so it shouldn’t be necessary.
- Comment on 3 days ago:
Psyonix/Epic Games sold out, delisted it from Steam and only keeps updating the build for existing users
Yup, that’s exactly what I meant with my comment. You got it.
- Comment on 5 days ago:
I know what Epic did, and I know what they’re referring to, but the game is not gone, it’s just not purchasable. And this person obviously owns it because they were playing before Epic made it free to play. So I don’t know what the issue is for them.
- Comment on 6 days ago:
Right. If you bought it there you have it there. And the person I replied to obviously bought it there, so it shouldn’t be removed for them. Context, right?
I doubt Epic will remove it from Steam though. That’ll be the day they really kill their user base.
- Comment on 6 days ago:
Granted, yes. But after you hook that up, you basically don’t have to touch Epic again. No re-logins ever required. 👍
- Comment on 6 days ago:
I’ve been running it on Linux for a few years now. The performance is better than Windows.
The anti cheat feature might not matter to you, but at higher ranks it ruins the game to run into bots at every corner.
I just need them to do the “Authenticating” bit much faster. 3 seconds was already way too long to be joining a match, but now with the authentication step it can sometimes be upward of 15 second, which is an eternity in RL play.
- Comment on 6 days ago:
From what I understand, it’s a nightmare to develop in. And it shows, because Psyonix will release update after update, year after year, and every single fucking time, there will be a new bug in something that isn’t remotely relevant to the release notes.
It’s gotta be spaghetti all the way down, I imagine.
- Comment on 6 days ago:
Rocket League uses UE3, so even older.
- Comment on 6 days ago:
They never removed it from Steam? I’ve been playing it on there since 2015. If you bought it there, you have it. Even works on Linux with Proton.

As a family with 2 kids under 7, I can tell you that the fucking-each-other-over aspect is NOT very fun. 😆️ It’s the worst aspect of it for my kids, because everyone gets in each other’s way and you bump into each other and you can accidentally pick each other up and toss each other over edges and stuff.
Mario Wonder is a bit more forgiving with that because you can essentially pass through each other in the 2-D plane, but there you have the aspect of “waiting for each other”, otherwise you get ghostified. Also a source of emotional pain… 😭️

I don’t get that. The hands work independently from each other so it should be optimal on both sides independently as well. So if you play a lot of stick movement games you’d want sticks to be forward for the thumbs, but button-heavy games should have buttons forward instead of inwards. For me, I play Rocket League, so I want stick forward on right side, buttons forward on left side, like Xbox. But if I played a lot of shooters or similar, I’d probably want both sticks forward.

If you only use source image and motion vectors as input, so you’re essentially predicting instead of interpolating, surely that introduces some type of stuttering now and then due to correction which will be necessary eventually? Or am I misunderstanding it?

I hate that the left stick and D pad have the PlayStation layout. Much more strenuous for the thumb.
