Unrelated to the actual anti-bot topic discussed here, but I would just like to mention this point:
PROTOCOL = http+unix: because UNIX sockets are said to be faster locally but also because this avoids the painful management of ports. Also feels safer [as] there is no way to connect from outside. This is really underrated. I try to use this for all the server software I host, and not having to manage ports is absolutely great, along with knowing that nothing can connect to the service internally when it’s not supposed to.
Except I actually go a step further and use systemd’s socket activation feature, which has a few additional benefits (like seamless restarts, no need for
CAP_NET_BIND_SERVICE(my webserver and reverse proxy runs as a completely unprivileged user!), only starting the service once there is a request (this one is admittedly less useful), and having a quick overview of bound ports and Unix socket paths listed in the.socketfile). Unfortunately, most programs need to be patched to support this, including forgejo (outdated codeberg link here because I had to set the forgejo repository on my own code forge to private earlier today because of scrapers…). - Comment on Portal 2: Community Edition goes open beta on April 17 4 months ago:
Oh, they switched to Source 2? I thought P2:CE was based on the CS:GO branch of the engine, which would still be Source 1. But I haven’t kept up to date with what they were doing, so maybe I’m wrong here.

I quoted GLaDOS saying “Don’t press that button. You don’t know what you’re doing.”
… and no one pressed the button. It ended.
- Comment on Are achievements still relevant in 2026—especially when mods disable them? 5 months ago:
I like the different approach some games take, like Minecraft’s “advancements”. They’re per save, so mods don’t disable them (in fact, many mods add their own), and a nice indicator of how much progress you’ve made in a world already.
And people who care about “completing” a game can still do that in a single save and show off the advancement progress window there (although it can be cheated just like in any game).
There’s just no global statistics anymore.

Yeah, that’s the reasonable thing to do. Most uses of tangents are things I do want to see, but it’s still helpful to enable the category in case something comes up in the video I don’t care about.

When I enabled this niche aggressive category I wanted niche, aggressive segments. But on videos that I liked? This has gone too far. This category is censoring jokes, it is suppressing creative voices. I can’t believe there are people out there, making this segments on these works of art. It’s a comedy channel for God’s sake! I get that this category is for jokes but these jokes are FUNNY! These submitters should be banned, as they clearly don’t understand these guidelines. Oh they removed the jokes from LTT? That’s fine their jokes are lame. Hey fosstodon.org/@sponsorblock how do I bulk upvote
