Regardless, the fact is unless you’re going through the code, you’re not sure if the tracking and telemetry is really disabled. LibreWolf does that for me, so I use it over plain Firefox

Because they said so in their updated ToS. They might not be as bad as Google but they’re not saints

Firefox is spying on you, so a derivative is the only option. I also user Ungoogled Chromium because it’s really nice and works well after a couple of tweaks

I managed to install LibreWolf + uBlock on my work computer. I haven’t fucked around with custom filters on that setup but power user mode is on and most 3rd party stuff is blocked. And JS is disabled by default.
It’s actually quite refreshing: pages load superfast and because most of my internet searching is technical documentation/blogs/stack overflow, not having JS running doesn’t bother me 90% of the time.

True. I use a cheap computer monitor for myself, and since I live like a hermit it isn’t really a problem for me. Aren’t projectors more expensive than cheap 1080p TVs?

I will buy a Telly TV as long as I don’t have to give my ID and can desolder the WiFi chip.
I know what day it is but commenting on a hypothetical precedent

Well if I could get a twitter API to abuse for free, I’d compete with him to create automated shitposts. Not going to pay for it though

I’m loving your commentary on the subject.
When I mentioned Mistral, I meant their attention to open source. Their new model (Mistral small) can be run on consumer hardware with similar results to ChatGPT if trained on good data. AI isn’t that useful outside of me asking it to write one-liners but I haven’t had the experience you have.

How much VC/Microsoft funding does OpenAI have? Surely they can’t afford to keep burning cash like they are now? When will they make AI so expensive to use that it will become useless?
The only AI startup I care about is Mistral. Amazing models, altruistic attitude towards AI and software. In my opinion, one of the few great companies out there. Give them a few more years and I’ll consider them in the same league as Mullvad.

I’ve seen this movie before. MBAs are fucking idiots.
Truer words have never been spoken.

I’m just waiting for OpenAI or someone else to jack up prices in the name of profits so high that they will be the equivalent of Nvidia for business AI.
Suddenly hiring for creative roles will be back in full swing because companies won’t be able to afford it. Unfortunately, in the end, the shareholder always wins

- Comment on AI companies should be charged percentages of their net worth for infringements 3 weeks ago:
I honestly don’t think EU and Asian leaders have the balls to do this (because the American government will support American companies if it comes down to it)
- Comment on AI companies should be charged percentages of their net worth for infringements 3 weeks ago:
Malicious delays should be recognised and interest should be charged as an additional percentage

Agreed. I wonder if they are just too scared to actually do this

AI companies should be fine percentages of their total worth by the government whose artists they are taking advantage of. For example: Japanese government penalises OpenAI 50% of their network for every image which is even marginally similar to any publishing house in Japan. And they should be very lenient about taking on these cases.
I want OpenAI, Microsoft, Google, Facebook and IBM to get fucked so bad they won’t even dream of coming back and doing this. I don’t know why the EU penalises these companies in monetary amounts. They should be putting rules like a certain percentage of your company for a certain type of wrongdoing.
TBH if Japan or other asian countries bleed these companies dry they will be sitting on an immense sum of money which will propel them to superpowers in their own right. It’s a win-win for everyone
