Average NBA salary is about 10 million. So Wemby is getting paid like 120% the average in his league. Clark is getting about 50% the average in her league.

It’s totally unfair to use Caitlin Clark as an example of the pay disparity as well. She’s a rookie on a pay scale. Her salary is less than half the average wnba salary. What’s really crazy to me is that the average salary is about 150k with only one woman making over 250k. For the salaries to be that flat seems odd compared to other pro sports but it’s just a part of the W having less revenue. Athletes have very strong unions also.

You do know that professional sports is considered part of the entertainment industry, right? This is like you insisting that Margot Robbie and Christian Slater should be paid the same because they do the same job.

“Some of the best players in the wnba could likely play in the NBA…”
As an avid NBA fan (occasionally watch wnba) this is absolutely not true. Golf, Nascar, Tennis, yeah. It’s more likely to happen in the NFL than it is in the NBA though, because specialists positions like kicker. The NBA, players are required to play both offense and defense. For a woman to have both the pure athleticism to be competitive with the best 500 male basketball players in the world? Not an impossibility but she’d still likely be bench depth and seen as a pr motivated move. That level of nba player gets paid, maybe, 3x the top paid WNBA player but it’s give and take with potential endorsements etc.

Happy for steph but, man. This game made me so stoked for the rest of Wembys career. Good stretches where he looked like the best player on the court and hes only 20. For him to be such a physical anomaly with such good instincts for the game. With such a versatile skillet. And him in tears after the game just shows his passion. All that together man. He’s going to be SPECIAL.

Alright,
MVP: Luka
More of an “he’s earned it” trophy but I think a dark horse is Giannis if the Bucks are able to live up to their potential. His greatness is kinda being undersold by his resume so far. I’m a Blazers fan and I want Dame to have a rebound year if the get the Ws Giannis always has a solid statistical argument. I’m a bit doubtful cus I think Doc was a horrible hire though. I think Shai is going to have the best season but voters will take a wait your turn approach.
DPOY: Wemby
Legit think they’ll name the trophy after him someday.
MIP: Scoot or Shaydon Sharpe
Scoot for the cope. Sharpe cus I legit think he’s going to have a break out year making a play for his extension in a couple years. I think this trophy should go to the “out of nowhere” players only.
Meme pick is CP3 for a bounce back year and a legacy award. Fun to think about too dudes a HOFer and 40 lol. Another pick is a random Indy roleplayer being elevated by Halliburton to an all-star caliber Stat line. Ant-Man has a good chance too if he keeps the momentum might get to mvp convo, get mip just for the recognition.
COTY: Mangualt IDK spelling
OKC should have a great season.
6th man: Reid
Its a perfect role for him and he adds so much.
Champion: Thunder
IDK contracts off the top of my head but I think okc makes a trade for Jerami Grant. Great plug in do it all veteran wing will eleavate that roster quite a bit. More young talent and good picks than roster spots and Blazers need to load up for what will prob be a long rebuild. The needs match up so well. Assuming there were no bad feelings when he left okc in FA though.
