- Comment on How do you go about evaluating sources of information for truth/credibility/etc.? 3 days ago:
Experience of credibility with a source. If you know a news site is credible, then it’s appropriate to trust at least most things.
If it’s a journal or a blog, then it’s most likely opinion with no real substantial evidence.
Experience of the writer of the source. A lot of official articles will have a small bio about the writer or at least their name so you can research the writer.
Citations. That’s all on that point
Site security. If it’s an unsecured site, then it is not a good source of information
Verbiage. If bias or insulting language is being used, then it’s a bias source which makes it a bad source.

Lol. I don’t think this is helping tbh
- Comment on Witch hunting is going to quickly destroy Lemmy, and prevent it from flourishing 1 week ago:
Ok. So first, I didn’t see anything insulting you or trying to really alienate you in any way. They were just disagreeing with you. Some people are going to say something unnecessary shit, because hell, we all do it, but nothing appears to be a witch hunt. Just expressing in detail why they thought you are wrong. That’s what open discourse is for. If they were trying to witch hunt, then they’d be trying to shut your posts or comments down and make you look like you are a problem. They aren’t doing that. Just saying you’re wrong.
And if I missed direct insults or insulting wording, point it out, but my initial analysis is you’re being dramatic

Trump’s 1st term was pretty much Reagan 2.0. If he’s going to stay with that theme, this term will be Bush (Sr.) 2.0
- Comment on When was the last time a Republican Oresident left office with a good economy? 1 week ago:
Nixon actual had the highest GDP growth with 3.5%. Second was Reagan at 3.48%

- Comment on I keep hearing that the Democratic Party should've paid more attention to the young white American demographic. Does this mean there was a point to the "All lives matter." movement? 2 weeks ago:
Yes. It’s a very wrong perspective.
So let me break it down, and I’m not trying to be alienating or picking a side in the arguments of sex, gender, or color.
In the US, at least, it’s very close enough to say that it’s a half split on biologically born male and female.
Around 25% of those people identify to associate with the LGBTQIA+ group.
Around 32% of Americans are black
19% are Hispanic
7% are asian
And I’m adding this for effect: 58% are european
Now! If we look at the multiple demographic and ethnic ideas and peoples, then we see a different perspective, idea, and solutions.
I didn’t even mention religious or political ideologies, which would make the breakdown even deeper.
My point is that “who we fight for” is not a thing that we can identify with our eyes anymore. We should fight for affection and life. The hardest part is seeing people oppose what looks like who we/what concern ourselves with. That should tell you that not everyone who looks like the person who opposes you might not be your enemy. We have seen what happens when fear and hate control our emotions. Yet very few people want to do anything about it

Wait. Life as we know it isn’t over yet. Let the man actually get into office and see if he’ll actually work for the majority this time around. But the second when he again charges the taxpayers to pay for his visits to Mar-a-lago again, then be pissed

If they’re doing the orders by the time they were received, then it’s no different than standing in a long queue for people to order. It would probably be easier to bring back the number ticketing system, but regardless it should not be different than people coming into the store and standing in line. If they’re doing the mobile orders first, then that’s most likely a contractual obligation that these employees have no control of. No offense, but as a whole society we now expect ourselves to receive service instantly and any form of delay is inconvenient and frustrating. I get it, but patience is a virtue

The uncanny valley is a sensation of another entity being close to human, but also have the feeling they aren’t human. We have identified humans as former primates with ears in the middle parts of our heads, shortness of fur or hair, and no tail. Meaning things that aren’t natural traits for a human that an individual accepts as a normal trait, that individual could be considered uncanny, but off.
I know there’s no sexualization of animals, but that is not a widespread belief. Many people will mentally categorize you as furries, which is also something I currently find uncomfortable, but that’s my personal problem, and they are doing nothing wrong in doing what they do. Neither are you
Ultimately my opinion on the outside looking in is this; people who try and convince you to not have the lifestyle you do cares about you and is concerned about you not fitting into society. At that point, it’s your job to prove them wrong without losing yourself or their care. They fear that you won’t fit into current society. However current society changes all the time. Ask any minority demographic that is put into the category of “lifestyle” and I feel they’ll tell you the same.
