Can confirm, but it’s worth noting that lots of non-prostitute women do this for the men in their life, too.
Read up on emotional labour ;-)
- Comment on Off to the mandatory company picnic we go... 20 hours ago:
Went to an after work work dinner during the week, the visiting management were all at one end ordering extra beers, making lots of noise, and eating lots of food … down at my end the people who have been here a while, and have to be up early the next morning and do actual work, picked at a bit of the food and then waited patiently while chatting a bit.
I was exhausted when I arrived, and just felt awkward. Plus one of the managers kept staring at me, which helped no end :-/

- Comment on How does a teenager learn to "eat out" a women without doing it like a dog at a water bowl? 3 days ago:
Worth noting that some women have a small or permanently hooded clit, which needs a different sort of care … for which, we circle back to listening to your partner!
Knowing the anatomy and getting into all the knooks and crannies is worthwhile too, since sometimes you find a spot the recipient didn’t know about :-)

Best reply I’ve seen so far!

It’s hard to tell from the photos, but it’s fucking tiny … still the best thing about Brussels, though.
- Comment on What should I do with boxes of old photos? 4 days ago:
That’s a fair point. Personally, I value photos more than just about any other possession. I have a proper backup routine for all my digital ones, too.

I have inherited the family’s photo archive which goes back before 1900. I keep it safe, and add to it as needed.
It’s a history of my family, so I don’t want it destroyed. Of course, other people may be less sentimental. It’s your choice :-)
- Comment on I am someone who works out daily and sweats a lot. Just doing laundry doesn't seem to adequately clean the underarms of my shirts. What are some ways to clean these areas of my clothing better? 1 week ago:
As long as it’s unscented, yes.
At work we have 99% isopropyl, but it’s intentionally smelly so we don’t accidentally cause a fire risk or whatever. At home I get 95% that isn’t smelly, and that works really well on clothes.
My Argentinian neighbour uses only alcohol and no detergent, and she doesn’t smell bad, lol.
As per the other comment, white vinegar has the same effect :-)
- Comment on Is Google Translate good for (non-basic) Spanish regaridng in-depth dialog? 1 week ago:
Thanks for the tip, nabbing offline translator now.
I work in Spanish, but conversationally I really struggle with vocab and expressing personal stuff. And conjugations. Oh my dog I hate those.
- Comment on Is Google Translate good for (non-basic) Spanish regaridng in-depth dialog? 1 week ago:
Yeah, Google translate works if
a) you speak the language enough to understand most things and just need help occasionally (conjugations and reflexive verbs for me in Spanish)
b) you speak none of the language but understand that the translation may be wonky so you word things carefully
c) can’t be arsed reading that whole email in your second or third language because you’re tired, and oh my dog is it time for bed yet?

Ha!
No, it’s in Hungarian. Nguyen was my ex’s surname though, and she literally gave me applause the first time I said it right (after some coaching).
I’m British, but I can get most pronunciations right with a little practice :-)
- Comment on [deleted] 1 week ago:
My wife has a surname that English speakers don’t understand how to pronounce. If she’s checking in at a hotel, or talking to a company over the phone, she pronounces it wrong on purpose so they’ll read/write it correctly.
It’s not very often she says her surname as it should be, lol

Also, I’d OP lives in a hard water area they might need to use more detergent.
They can also try chucking in isopropyl alcohol, that really works well

Bubble Bobble, but it was on my boyfriend’s C64. I wasn’t allowed a computer (and was thus obsessed by them, lol)

Same for me with English and Spanish :-/
Just the most silly things get mistranslated, and it’s no wonder some English films don’t do well in Spain when the dubs are so far off!

- Comment on Why are some Linux community so toxic? 1 week ago:
I guess because an answer to a technical question doesn’t affect someone’s whole life.
I’ll always be in debt to the Trans community here on Lemmy because of how they helped me, even though I’m not a member of the community.

My wife has read all of the Harry Potter books (pirated, of course) in Spanish … she only just squeezed through the B1 exam and it’s her third language.
Meanwhile, I work in Spanish, it’s only my second language, and there’s no way I could manage it.
In summary … maybe you can?
- Comment on I can feel my horny level rising to 30% 1 week ago:
Depends on the genre … this weekend I spent some time hiding from the heat, and powered my way through two short books rated at 4.2 or just above.
They were both plotless wish fulfillment, with a huge number of plot holes, loose ends dangling all over the place, character development that didn’t make sense, and so on. Each had maybe one thing written well, which kept me going to the end, but I really did waste my time.

In Vietnam, at least in the cities, they’re part of traffic - moving with the licensed cars and motorbikes … that’s not the case in Spain
- Comment on Turns out Boomers did have participation trophies 2 weeks ago:
I’ve not seen that in Spain … mostly there we have kids on fold-up type scooters on the pavements, they aren’t in the middle of 4 lanes of traffic cutting off cars
- Comment on Turns out Boomers did have participation trophies 2 weeks ago:
Yup. Also, Vietnamese parents dropping off very little kids outside school mostly just plop them down on the pavement outside, say bye, and ride off.
Boys on unplated electric scooters are a liability though, I’ve seen loads of them getting into crashes
- Comment on What is your favourite gaming console you have played? 2 weeks ago:
That would get my vote, too! A pity the hardware potential was limited by the drive type … if only they’d done a revised version with DVD or something
I really enjoyed Soul Caliber and Metropolis Street Racer :-)
