Who upvotes these phony MRA tales? Give me an effing break.

“Landlords” are probably one of the oldest grifts in the book.

They’ve already made a shitload of money. Now they’re consolidating into violent political control.
And when bubble pops, the rich will be paid immediately via an inflation tax on the poor as per usual…
- Comment on Scientific unprogress... 1 week ago:
“Scientists”, media, politicians, etc… today: I’ve created an artificial intelligence!!!
Actual scientists: The planet is being destroyed.
People: I don’t know who to believe.
Seriously “science” is so full of grifters that I’m not surprised flat-earthism is flourishing.

I like this image but it’s a shame that it’s destroying so many artists’ jobs in the sushi skateboarding industry… \s

Legit but let’s be even more real. It’s the US’s insanity that caused 911.

I occasionally accidentally see YouTube “recommendations” and it’s usually unhinged right wing shit with millions of views.
As someone who regularly watches my youtube recs, I never see this. Maybe it’s because youtube knows my preferences from watching their recommendations…
On the other hand youtube is definitely trash that promotes fascism. So I’m not doubting you either.
- Comment on It's been downhill since 2020 1 week ago:
If you think fascism started with Bush, then you missed about 400 years of history.

Handouts to the rich (aka “bailouts”) are a major foundation of the casino economy. No beginning and no end under capitalism.

Yeah since they invaded and genocided the americas.

Your mistake is viewing trump not as the obvious fash continuation of the state/capitalism but as some kind of aberration.

These kind of lib delusions are how we got here.
- Comment on Say hello to Bary 1 week ago:
I was going to complain about the use of “barycenter” instead of the more commonly known “center of mass”. But after some searching, I guess barycenter is more obscure because it’s more specific. I’m ok with that.
- Comment on MIT Study Finds AI Use Reprograms the Brain, Leading to Cognitive Decline 1 week ago:
A major problem with the “AI” grift is that it spawns so many dependent grifts like this one. “Science” under capitalism is not actually science.

Wait until you hear what empire is doing with facial recognition in palestine, etc…
- Comment on An activist has started using AI to identify ICE agents beneath their masks 2 weeks ago:
Are you talking about ICE? Yes, they have attacked many non-combatants and ruined many lives.
- Comment on An activist has started using AI to identify ICE agents beneath their masks 2 weeks ago:
Yes, the “AI” grift is annoying and completely untrustable.
As usual, there’s zero “AI” involved here.
It’s just facial recognition. Just more statistics on data.
- Comment on An activist has started using AI to identify ICE agents beneath their masks 2 weeks ago:
As usual there’s no “AI” involved at all. Just statistics on data. The nonstop grifting is further eroding the already destroyed credibility of mainstream journalism.
- Comment on New AI model predicts which genetic mutations truly drive disease 2 weeks ago:
And yet no “AI” exists here. Even “machine learning” is a stretch. It’s just statistical analysis on data.
All this his “AI” hype is undermining the credibility of apparently valid research.

Deified lemmings jump from one capitalist master to another.
- Comment on Bluesky now platform of choice for science community 2 weeks ago:
Yeah that’s why science is such a failure. There’s no actual progress in forcing information behind paywalls, etc. This is a major part of how/why science is used for the profits of the few at the expense of violence, planetary destruction, etc. for everyone else.
- Comment on Bluesky now platform of choice for science community 2 weeks ago:
it works.
You should check out the planet sometime.
- Comment on Bluesky now platform of choice for science community 2 weeks ago:
Of all people I’d expect scientists to have learned the lesson of Twitter and embrace fediverse
“Scientist” is just another job. The people who work these jobs are no magic. Many are not even scientists in any meaningful sense.

The real problem is believing there’s an objective difference between art and science.
It’s an artificial division under capitalism between what’s directly useful for profit, control, etc. and what’s not.
