- Comment on Can people irl be as mean as some people online? 2 days ago:
Online anonymity also let’s people forget that the people they’re being assholes too have real feelings. It’s not just retaliation that stops them. Most of us really don’t want to hurt someone, but some need a reminder that online folks are just as real.
- Comment on Do you ever feel guilty for trying to sign up for government assistance programs? 6 days ago:
The people I know personally who act like it’s so terrible to be helping someone else have all received significant assistance from the government and their communities.
Please accept the assistance. That’s what you need.
I don’t care if it’s forever. Everyone deserves to eat and a place to sleep and everyone deserves to know that they will still have food and a safe place to sleep later. Just don’t try to keep it from others once you’re back on your feet.
- Comment on Is it normal for a simmer to not produce any bubbles? 5 weeks ago:
It’s pretty normal. If it’s simmering there shouldn’t be bubbles breaking the surface. There’s no reason to think your thermometer is wrong though.

She should try my method.
Plan to have slightly later in case traffic is good, and then actually have just after work starts.
- Comment on Is there a real, actually working way to earn money online without having a job? 1 month ago:
I can’t imagine that actually pays enough to live though does it? My impression has been that in order to live off of OF you either need to find a niche that most aren’t willing to do or be really popular.
- Comment on McDonald’s CEO is grappling with a ‘two-tier economy’ as he slashes prices on value meals—and signals backing for a minimum wage increase 5 months ago:
Don’t get me wrong I’d love to be tough 20%, but they’re still so solidly middle class it’s not even funny.
- Comment on Anon is Bri’ish 5 months ago:
From Wikipedia
It goes back to at least the year 1230, and was excluded from the OED from the 18th century until 1960. So it wasn’t just Americans.

You can. But it’s not required.

Is the jet going even if you don’t, with the same other passengers?
- Comment on So, is the USA screwed? 11 months ago:
Their pocketbooks were morons for three generations, too.
- Comment on So, is the USA screwed? 11 months ago:
A generation seems very generous. The only path back to US hegemony I see is Fascism and I don’t even think the current batch are interested in US hegemony.
- Comment on I had some that looked exactly like this 2 years ago:
I thought these were temporary in that they last several decades, not several years. Permanent school buildings are intended for several generations.
