- Comment on What are some good places/activities where a middle-aged man can new make friends? 2 days ago:
If you are musical or like music maybe find a local weekly jam or open mic. Play some tunes or just go and enjoy. Typically a very welcoming and open community and supportive scene, at least everywhere I’ve been.
- Comment on Why do I drag my feet when it's time to start a new task even if I know I'll enjoy it once I get started? 1 week ago:
I think it is worth being very clear that “Executive Dtsfunction” is not a disorder, it is a term to describe a symptom that appears across multiple disorders as well as independent of disordets.
Task initiation is an uphill battle for MOST people, and on its own does not indicate a disorder. Uncertainty and anxiety are very real barriers that can overwhelm anyone.
- Comment on 34% of the US population doesn't vote. Why do polticalitcians cling to the idea that these voters can't be reached? 1 month ago:
Because one party doesn’t want them to vote and voter supression campaigns have become extremely powerful. And it goes beyond the beurocratic tactics like voter IDs. Apathy, cynicism, and distrust are also part of the right-wing propaganda. Opposition parties fight an uphill battle to engage more voters.
- Comment on What do office workers actually do? 1 month ago:
Or even construction… there are office jobs for that too. I know firsthand.

White crayon is a secret weapon when doing watercolor. Lets you mask areas you want to leave without paint. So that’s my choice.

- Comment on Why aren't there mass protests in the USA? 2 months ago:
Check out @usernamesAreTricky@lemmy.ml posts. They are posting pictures of grassroots protests across the country every day. Like has been said, there hasn’t been THE big mass protest, but there is constant local activism and protest, just mostly ignored by media.
- Comment on How can A person find out if they were hired as a DEI or fired because of it? 3 months ago:
DEI is aimed at broadening and diversifying the pool of qualified and skilled applicants. It does not affect hiring. That is racist misinformation.
- Comment on Is investing in real estate immoral if you use it to buy your first home? 9 months ago:
I feel that using housing as a commodity for building wealth is absolutely immoral. Homes should be owned by those who live in them. But investing is a personal choice. Some people choose to invest in immoral companies or practices. But what you buy with the money doesn’t change what you funded to get it.
- Comment on Why can't people make ai's by making a neuron sim and then scaling it up with a supercomputer to the point where it has a humans number of neurons and then raise it like a human? 1 year ago:
Neurons undergo physical change in their interconnectivity. New connections (synapses) are created, strengthened, and lost over time. We don’t have circuits that can do that.
- Comment on Amazon pricing makes no sense. 1 year ago:
Do you have Nordstrom Rack near you? They often have new cashmere marked down to 20 or 30 bucks.
