if you identify as a woman and you’re reading this you’re better off running to any other state province or country that actually cares about women’s rights as it’s clear that the rich want to control any and all women
it ain’t fear mongering if shit like this is blatantly happening

- Comment on Where is Naomi Wu? 2 months ago:
Losing Naomi Wu to the CCP was a catastrophic loss to the FOSS community, I remember that she once went directly to confront a company (I think located in China) to demand for the release of their modified version of a copyleft software
I hope she’s still alive and doing well
- Comment on Do you prefer to buy games on Steam or GOG? 2 months ago:
whenever possible itch.io for me as some devs provide Steam keys alongside their source code and packaged versions for most if not all platforms (usually: [Windows, Linux, Android])

Fair enough
although I asked as I didn’t want to flood this thread from the back and forth but thinking again maybe it’s ok?@hungryphrog@lemmy.blahaj.zone I’ve got a couple of questions:
- What’s your approximate budget?
- What will this primarily be used for? [Work, school, personal] <- could be specialized or a mix of any.
- What’s your experience with Operating Systems? (Windows, Linux. Mac) <- (asking here as you stated wanted something “easy to use”).
- From your previous comment above what do you mean by scrolling and playing? I’m assuming web browsing and gaming? If this is correct what kinds of games do you typically play?
As you can see, some of these questions I typically ask can get a bit personal hence why I ask that responses as private conversations unless the person in question consents and acknowledges that they’re ok with sharing potentially private information (like even writing this out makes me sketched out mishandling any type of private information can be a serious legal risk)

As a freelancer IT consultant I could help you choose a laptop if you’d like as this was something I used to do back before the Reddit implosion

- Comment on [Gamers Nexus] Intel's Biggest Failure in Years: Confirmed Oxidation & Excessive Voltage 3 months ago:
depends on your return window,
if you have a chance to refund both your CPU and mobo I’d personally recommend taking it and waiting to see what Intel does if you want to buy Intel’s future processors, you’d also get the option to take a look at AMD’s lineup as well
if you’re outside the return window for both it might still be worth refunding the CPU and seeing if you’d be able to swap the mobo with an AMD equivalent by contacting your board maker [Asus MSI, Asrock, Gigabyte, NZXT, etc), if they say no then you still have the option to sell as a new board as it sounds like you were on the cusp of the build phase

Thinking about this situation again and I’m only just realizing the ripple effects this might have on the company’s future and the future CPU ecosystem
I have to wonder if Intel realizes that they swam out to the ocean with no plan in mind
