If we’re talking extinguished timelines the Year of Hell Janeway would like a word. (Unless…did you erase her for the glory of the Krenim Imperium?)

British. Specifically Scottish.
- Comment on Was it a good thing that SNW explicitly said the Federation is socialist? 5 months ago:
As I am not American I grew up with socialism being a positive connotation in day to day culture, so much so it’s wild to me that this needed to be veiled in Trek’s past. Star Trek should be as explicit as possible with this. “Hey, you want Utopia? This is how you earn it!”

True, but also it’s the Discovery, not the Discovery A we have now.
Calypso has to be assumed to be canon to a prevented timeline (maybe one where Control won at the end of season 2 etc.)

I thought it was quite good myself; it reminded me very much of the doctor taking over Seven’s body in Body and Soul, the various crew possessions in Powerplay, and Curzon inhabiting Odo in Facets. I do enjoy getting to see an actor really chew the scenery outside the confines they have worked in before.

What the actors knew and what the writers knew are not necessarily the same thing though. The writers could well have had a much better idea this would be the end of the road, and left them selves avenues accordingly.

Yeah. Not sure what that poster is on about, Sir Patrick is in terrific form still. The only thing I think maybe differs is the energy, but that’s down to personal tone and timing, Sir Patrick hasn’t aged or changed massively from his prime, he’s always been of less jubilant character, but still very present and engaged.

- Comment on TrekMovie.com: Patrick Stewart Reveals New Star Trek Movie Script Featuring Jean-Luc Picard Is In The Works 10 months ago:
I don’t know that insistence is the right way to phrase it. Sir Patrick and Brent Spiner are good friends, IIRC Nemesis was written by Spiner’s old flatmate and best friend. As such the wants of the actors started creeping into the scripts, not out of insistence per se, but perhaps more out a natural affect of a close working relationship. Sometimes a healthy distance is most important between a writer’s room, and the cast.

Bringing a 4x to console is a reasonably large undertaking. It’s not just the work that goes into creating an intuitive controller scheme, and establishing input speeds etc., it’s all the additional UI that it requires (unit selection etc). Then there is getting it past the platform holder. Used to be a complex system, it’s become easier in the last 10 years, but you still have to have a save system that’s compatible with the requirements of the platform, you still have to be able to support suspend and resume in your gameplay, you still have to put in trophies and achievements. It’s months of work for a small team, and ultimately, if it won’t pay the bills, then they can’t justify doing it.

Finally caught all the way up with Prodigy, back to 100% of Trek watched. It was surprising to me how much having unwatched Trek irked me, and how satisfying it made finishing the season!

See I’m sure that’s some of what I’m remembering, but at least when I played Klingon about 2007 it didn’t seem to be the same game.
(Btw, the Acti Zork games are acted DVD graphical adventures, unlike their text based precursors. Worth a go if you can. )
- Comment on Star Trek Resurgence Giveaway 11 months ago:
I was a big fan of the Elite Force games, but the one I enjoyed most was a DVD game from the mid to late 90s that doesn’t seem to exist. It was similar to the activision Zork games of the era, but Gowron was making Gowron eyes at the screen a lot; I’m considering that I’ve merged two games I played together, and made a false memory, but honestly I don’t know what games those would’ve been either.
