Not sure how much they had already planned when the base game is made, but there’s a Control DLC linking it to Alan Wake 2, so they must have some ideas. I even played that DLC before playing Alan Wake, and that is what actually interested me in the game. As someone who runs away from all horror games I wasn’t planning to play Alan Wake before playing that DLC.

Publisher makes money from exclusivity deal, and the subscription makes money because of exclusive content.
Whether that money is worth it not is a different maths though.

I played Control before Alan Wake, so didn’t get any of the reference that you mentioned. I don’t replay games much (except few exceptions, like Skyrim) but Control was really fun, might be interesting to play it again before Alan Wake 2.

Since it’s Lemmy, might be a good idea to add an AI usage disclaimer, whether you use it or not, just explicitly mention it.

Why do you sail the high seas? Don’t like DRM on steam, or some other reason?

Heh, you at least used stock art, I have known people who used to think copying images from “Google Images” is fine. 😀 People (mostly) know better now though.
As for games, there are tons of free assets available these days, which aren’t best for for releasing a game, but are good enough for prototyping, and even developing rest of the game.
And don’t worry too much about it, we all have our personality quirks that can be beneficial in certain aspects of life but a little annoying in others aspects. Just need to slowly learn the balance.

So, as a minecraft noob, does this mean he just “downloaded” a pre-made Kirby and put it here, or just that he saw how to make one and made it brick by brick?

That Kirby looks great. Kudos to whoever made that!

I can understand, I have been trying my had at a 2D game, and I never realised how much visual content you need for a game, and if a small 2D game need so much of that, I can only guess how much a 3D game will need.
I think at younger level, while learning, it’s fine to work alone, this gives you a breadth of knowledge and you learn about all the different aspects, but learning to work with others is also a useful skill and one that you should eventually work on.

You should keep it up, would love to see your progress in 3D modeling! (Of course, that is assuming you have interest in 3D modeling)

I pretty much agree with your whole point here, so I had to go back and re-read what we were discussing 😀
I think the fighting for scraps thing come from everyone having limited time for these entertainment. Games aren’t just competing with other games, they are also competing with Netflix and other such entertainment, as well as from games like Fortnite and Roblox. You can argue that these people won’t play other games no matter what, but they are still party of that growth that video game industry has seen. They are still part of that 3+ billion gamers the industry claim (or 100+ Million console gamers, if just talking about consoles). And I think that’s where some of the issue comes from, all companies want their share from that pie of gamers which leads to all these decisions.

That Blender recreation looks pretty good, I first thought it was some game mod that allowed you zoom in or get in 3rd person view where you took the screenshot. So really nice work there.
- Comment on WTF Is Happening To The Video Game Industry? 2 weeks ago:
Well, I am not sure how game companies define their target audience, but aren’t these players part of the same “gamers” pie that all these companies want to get attention of? These kids would still be playing games if there was no Fortnite, but it’s the live service game that is keeping them so engaged that they don’t have time for much else.
Of course if they aren’t even the target customers, then that discounts this whole argument.

I don’t have the data Mat has, but anecdotally, I agree with him. My kid wants to sometimes play a single player game if he watches me play it and likes it, but it will always be when his friends aren’t online to play Fortnite with him. And it’s not just him, it’s all his friends and cousins and their friends and cousins. They play Fortnite / Roblox etc primarily, and occasionally, if no one is online to play that with them, they may take a look at something else.

That’s a pretty interesting take.

Glad to see Jerry and Cable back, looking forward to their adventures.

I don’t have much experience with any third party Joycon, but SwitchUp guys recently mentioned Nyxi Hyperion 3 in one of their videos (it was sponsor of the video, so take that as you may - here’s the link to video: youtu.be/YvL7thsQnu8?t=29).

Congratulations on 2 years! I knew it was coming up but I forgot the basic math that 365 + 365 = 730. It’s good to see you still going strong!
I think having Halo as number 1 was easy guess. Didn’t think Oblivion would tie up with Assassin’s Creed Shadow, but it might be cause there have been multiple Assassin’s Creed, so they feel a lot more. If you still have the numbers, I am curious where AC will rank if you count whole franchises instead of games (like with Halo)? I think that will give Mario Kart a chance to compete for top games too.
I think I missed your Oneshot post, going to lookup the game.
Here’s to many more years of playing and enjoying games!
