You haven’t read my comment I guess.
I have a lot of games that I bought (mostly for max CHF 20.-, so max 25$), but they are only playing free live service games.
- Comment on Video Games Need to Be Cheaper to Buy 3 days ago:
I have kids and I have a huge library of games on Playstation and PC. What are they playing?
Fortnite and Roblox which they could play for free if they didn’t want to get cool skins. So, no, games aren’t as expensive for kids as they used to be, except if they waste a lot of money in predatory schemes in games where they could play for free and just 1-2 things to support the devs.
- Comment on Video Games Need to Be Cheaper to Buy 3 days ago:
The price of new games isn’t a problem for me as they are still cheaper than what they were when I was a kid. In my country Switzerland, an expensive new game is stll less than CHF100.- when some Nes games were CHF120.- thirty years ago. Back in the Playstation 1 era games were around CHF89.- and now most Playstation 5 games are around CHF79.-.
And that’s not taking inflation into account!
Gaming is one of the few things which has become cheaper in my lifetime, especially now that I get a lot of old games on my Steam Deck and only racing sims on my Playstation 5.
For me the problem is that you can pay such an amount and still be subject to many popups begging for your money (microtransactions) or DRM’s (always online or others).
Or that, thanks to digital games, you’ll soon not be able to resell an expensive game that you didn’t enjoy enough to keep.
And also the fact that games aren’t really prettier than 10 years ago but that you still need better hardware to play them.
I think game companies really need to have a look at why their games are becoming so expensive, because I don’t think it’s because they are treating their employees better.

I’m hoping the game will be released on GOG as I wouldn’t buy a game I’ve already owned on console on Steam since it wouldn’t be DRM free.
- Comment on 1 week ago:
I guess the old one might feel really old if it’s your first Final Fantasy.
Even the remakes feel a bit dated in a way (not graphically).
- Comment on 1 week ago:
As long you can still play the old version with your old save, I don’t see the problem.
Although I wonder what the new version introduces…
I might replay FFVII at one point after getting the third episode of the remake. It’d be a nice way to spot the differences in the story…
- Comment on Why is Valve being sued for almost $900 million, but Epic Games wasn't sued when they bought Rocket League and Fall Guys to remove them from steam? 2 weeks ago:
Apparently a lot of games don’t have DRMs on Steam. The only thing missing is a badge indicating this.
- Comment on XCOM: Enemy Unknown – Review and Retrospective- Is It Worth It In 2025? 2 weeks ago:
Yeah the two last games are really great and I enjoyed them so much on Steam Deck.
- Comment on Why do you need a launcher? (asking older gamers actually) 3 weeks ago:
Having one launcher isn’t a problem for me. Steam’s OS’s launcher even allows me to launch GOG games through Heroic without even really launching Heroic.
Where it starts being a problem is when individual games need their own launcher…
I see the launcher as the system menu in a console…

Well they are based in my city and they’ve been around for 30 years.
They use their datacenters to heat buildings and seem to have good ethos.
I’ve been using kdrive for 5 years and I can only complain about the lack of Flatpak (Appimage for Linux) and the fact that they don’t have an alternative to something like Google Photos.

Infomaniak is even cheaper with kdrive www.infomaniak.com/fr/ksuite/kdrive/tarifs
- Comment on RetroDECK 0.10.0b Is a Ground-Up Rewrite, Not Just an Update 4 weeks ago:
So what? How much bigger is it than the other one?
If it allows me to not change too many things on the Deck to install, I’m okay with wasting some space compared to other solutions.
Also it can emulate not just one console.
- Comment on RetroDECK 0.10.0b Is a Ground-Up Rewrite, Not Just an Update 4 weeks ago:
RetroDeck has the advantage of being a Flatpak and not needing Deckyloader plugin if you’re using a Steam Deck.
I’ve had a great experience with it👍
- Comment on AI-Induced RAM Crunch Could Push Next PlayStation and Xbox Past 2028 1 month ago:
Exactly! The good part of such a shortage is that old tech can stay relevant for far longer and devs will have to optimize more.
Sometimes, therés a lot of good in a bad situation.
I want great games, not necessarly more demanding ones. The Last of Us 2 is still the most beautiful game I’ve played and I don’t really need more if it means getting new hardware.
- Comment on AI-Induced RAM Crunch Could Push Next PlayStation and Xbox Past 2028 1 month ago:
I’d also love to have a normal PS5 partition and a Linux one. This would be the best of both worlds, but I think I’m dreaming too much😇
- Comment on Disco Elysium - The Final Cut is free to claim on epic games for the next 24h 1 month ago:
Oh yeah I fully agree that no game can satisfy everyone.
It’s just that, before playing it myself, I never heard a bad thing about it so I might have expected too much out of it.
Still I enjoyed it, even if it’s not a game I’ll recommend to everyone.

It’s a great game, but not the masterpiece everyone told me.

Good as developpers should optimize instead of just counting on more powerful hardware.
- Comment on Nearly 90% of Windows Games now run on Linux, latest data shows — as Windows 10 dies, gaming on Linux is more viable than ever 3 months ago:
Linux gaming is good enough that I would consider not getting the Playstation 6 if I didn’t have kids and didn’t want to watch basketball through the nba league pass.
I’m trying to get my kids to play with the Steam Deck, but it’s honestly still not as good as a Playstation for such a use.
Still it’s going the right way.
- Comment on 3 months ago:
It would be a good deal if you kept the games forever, but since they’re linked to your subscription, it ain’t worth it to me😇
- Comment on Ex PlayStation exec says Sony can't keep "increasing the graphics power" with new consoles after tech plateau, but PS5 has already "made almost every game a better game" 3 months ago:
Why would you wish to be highly sensitive to an increase/decrease in fps.
That’s just a curse and you should be happy you don’t have it.
You can just enjoy more games with a cheaper pc/console.
- Comment on Ex PlayStation exec says Sony can't keep "increasing the graphics power" with new consoles after tech plateau, but PS5 has already "made almost every game a better game" 3 months ago:
People are criticizing Playstation, but I’m still really happy to have a Playstation 5 alongside my Steam Deck.
As much as I love playing old games on the deck and it has now become my main console, I’m happy to have my Playstation 5 for demanding games (mostly sim racing) and to watch blurays.
Having a powerful PC would not bring me the versatility my Steam Deck/Playstation 5/Surface Go 1 is giving me for now.
Although that might change if the Playstation 6 comes without blurays.
I don’t understand why some PC people feel the need to say consoles are useless, when it’s only to them that they would be.
- Comment on GOG Has Had To Hire Private Investigators To Track Down IP Rights Holders 3 months ago:
Did you mean this? If there is nothing written, does it mean the game is DRM free as if we were on GOG?
- Comment on GOG Has Had To Hire Private Investigators To Track Down IP Rights Holders 3 months ago:
Oh I’m gonna have a look at my games out of curiosity then.
- Comment on GOG Has Had To Hire Private Investigators To Track Down IP Rights Holders 3 months ago:
How do you know if a Steam game is DRM free or not?
How do you install such games without Steam through Linux? Is it just an .exe and you click on it as I haven’t done it since probably the early 00’s?
- Comment on GOG Has Had To Hire Private Investigators To Track Down IP Rights Holders 3 months ago:
I’m trying to buy 50% of my games on Gog because they avoir DRM and 50% on Steam because they’re great Linux supporters.
Still I can understand why Steam is ahead in terms to f sale as GOG has some progress to do.
- Comment on Xbox consoles are getting a price bump. Again. 4 months ago:
Yeah but don’t forget that GamePass is also costing them a lot of money.
- Comment on Xbox consoles are getting a price bump. Again. 4 months ago:
Yeah but you forgot chip prices and tariffs so I don’t think their margins have improved by so much…
- Comment on Xbox consoles are getting a price bump. Again. 4 months ago:
Yeah but allowing players to have steam games would mean not recovering the money invested in subsidizing the console since there is no money made on selling them.
That only works when Xbox is only gonna be a brand and not console makers.
