We use NGINX’s 444 response A LOT.
In coordination with careful rate-limiting, it’s been a dramatic improvement.
The worst of the bits don’t advertise their User Agent (or worse, attempt to present they’re a normal user making 100s of requests a second) but there’s lots of low hanging fruit.

It’s worse. My music is on Spotify - while I would no longer meet their minimum for payments, even before that change they refuse to pay me or provide stats until I provide a twitter of Facebook page, which I don’t have - despite publishing through an established publishing company who could absolutely handle payments and play stats.
Spotify is cancer.

Should be much higher.
A combination of inflation, gap between workers and leaders at the company AND productivity.
50$/hr and 3 day weeks. There’s no reason to grind to make the ruling class more wealthy.
